farewell, Rose
Goodbye, Rose
It was over; everything. Zieg, Mulba Falum, all of what had brought them to the moon. Including her. Shana, the Moon Child, the destined mother to the Virage Embryo; the God of Destruction that would end the world.
"And history repeats," I said softly. "Every 108 years the moon that never sets will glow red; then the Moon Child will descend and bring unto the world a divine blessing. Only with the Moon Child's blessing also comes the Black Monsters curse. The Black Monster's wrath of death and destruction to the world."
Dart looked back at me and grinned. "The Black Monster's dead. I, we killed it in Death Frontier," he walked up and whispered in my ear. "Now, we only have you, Rose."
I pushed him back. "No," I whispered in tears. "The Black Monster's not dead yet. As long as there is a Moon Child there must always be a Monster to come with her."
"But the prophecy," Shana walked up. "The Moon Child no longer exists. You don't have to fight anymore."
"Don't you understand?" I asked. "It's been over 11,000 years. I only know how to fight. I can't just change."
"Shana's right," Albert interjected. "The Moon Child's gone. You have no reason to be the Black Monster anymore."
"But don't you see?" I cryed. "History repeats. I've killed every Moon Child. I've killed on a hunch. I'll fight Shana eventualy regardless of whether she's the one or not just because she reminds me of the Child."
"Old habits are hard to break," Haschel comferted. "But I'm sure you'll be free of it sometime or another. It won't take another 11,000 years to become Rose again."
"You came here to save Shana, right?" I asked. "Well, if you let me live, all what you went through will be for nothing! I went through 11,000 years of this and I won't change just because Zieg is dead. Your going to have to destroy me if you want to save Shana."
"But Rose," Meru interjected. "It's over. We won, right?"
I almost grinned. That was Meru. In all her childish, innocent glory. "We nothing. You won. I was just here for the ride, and what makes you think that the Black Monster isn't just waiting to spring back to life?"
"So your saying that I have to kill you in order to save Shana?" Dart asked.
"You began fighting to get revenge on me," I responded. "Why not finish the job? You care about Shana, don't you?"
And then it was no longer out of anger. There was no fear in Rose's eyes, no hesitation. It was now for forgiveness, out of understanding. "I now realize you were hunted by your own personal demons," Dart layed the blade against my chest. "I forgive you. Farewell, Rose."
My last thoughts were that he called me Rose.
