All Wet

It was late, around midnight, but time had never really mattered to Eric when he was swimming. He'd come down here to take his mind off things, especially after what Natalia had told him that day. He wasn't really sure how he was going to deal with that situation, and he wasn't really sure that he was in love with her. He sighed finally stopping in the middle of the pool, his back to the exit. He didn't notice the petite blonde enter and sit down at the edge of the pool dangling her legs over the side.

'What can I do about this?' Eric said smashing his fist into the water little.

'About what?' Calleigh asked causing Eric to jump and turn around to face her.

'What are you doing here?' Eric asked looking slightly shocked to see her there.

'I saw you come down here, thought I'd see what was wrong. Ya only swim this late if there's somethin' on your mind. So what was it that ya wanted to do somethin' about?'

'It's nothing, Calleigh, just…'

'Just what, Delko? It's so big you can't tell little old me?' Calleigh said jokingly grinning at him. Eric smiled at her, pushing down that little headed feeling that always seem to appear whenever Calleigh was around. This is what felt good, joking with Calleigh. This was how it was supposed to be. Eric wondered though, could he actually tell her about Natalia? Would she judge him for saying that he didn't love Natalia, that he loved…?

Eric felt it hit him like a tonne of bricks, all this hesitation in the final decision about what to do, the short, meaningless relationships and distance he'd put between himself and Calleigh since Speedle's death. He was in love with Calleigh, but he knew he was scared. He didn't want to lose her and so he'd tried to push her away but that hadn't worked because all that he had really done was disappoint her, which had only made him disappointed in himself. Looking across at Calleigh, he noticed her frowning before realising he hadn't said anything for the past five minutes. He wondered if she felt the same way he did and if it was possible that somewhere in this screwed up mess of his life at the moment that they could find away to just fit this all in.

'Natalia told me she was late today.' Eric said subtly causing Calleigh to frown before the sense of realisation dawned on her.

'That's great for you, Eric. I'm really happy for you two.' Calleigh said smiling. Eric began to wonder if he imagined it or he really had heard disappointment in her voice. 'You make a great couple.'

'I guess, but I'm not really in love with Natalia.'

'You're not?' Calleigh asked and this time Eric knew that he wasn't imagining things that her voice sounded hopeful.

'No, I'm not… I'm in love with someone else. I have been for a long time now. I just didn't realise it until now.'

'Oh…' Calleigh said the disappointment now seemed obvious as she stared down at her bare feet. Eric wadded over towards her.

'Calleigh…'

'Hmmm…' Calleigh said not looking up at him, he placed a finger under her chin and lifted her head up to face him.

'I think that I'm in love with you… I think I've been in love with you for a long time.' Eric stated. Calleigh felt the tears run down her face as she smiled at Delko.

'Really?'

'Yes, really… I'm in love with you, Calleigh.'

'I love you too, Delko.' Calleigh said smiling before leaning into kiss him, not paying any attention to the fact that she was now waste deep in water and her clothes were all wet.
