1 Telemachus's Journey
As Telemachus arose from his bed in the morning he was very consumed with thought. He was thinking to himself about his journey he took, and how grown up he has become. What has he achieved from his journey, and how successful it was.
"I would have never thought that I would have needed my father so badly. I was totally outraged by the suitors, and I needed to find my father. I was scared though. I didn't even know if he was alive, but I needed to find out something so I could save my house.
Without the help of the wise Athena I don't think I would have embarked on my journey. She inspired me to go and seek information about my father so I could finally have peace in my house. I was still scared. I knew that I needed to do something, or the suitors would destroy my house. My mother needed me. I was the man of the house now, and I needed to leave home. I realized that embarking on this adventure would be a step towards becoming a man, and many would say becoming my father. I am trying to fill his shoes.
With that in mind I left my home in search of news of my father. As I sought out King Nestor and Menelaus I received information. My father was courageous and brave. He fought the Trojans and tricked them with his plan. Above all he was smart. Some say my father was as smart as a fox he lures his prey in and strikes when they are blind; he sneaks his way to his prey and then consumes them. From my journey I found out the most important piece of information of all, I realized that there was a chance that my father was still alive.
When I returned to my home things were still a mess with the suitors. Athena exposed some news to me. She changed the beggar that was in my house back to who he was before, who indeed was my dear father Odysseus. I was shocked, and also mad. Why hadn't he come to me sooner and revealed himself, I wondered? It brought tears to my eyes to see my dear father again I knew that both or us had to do something about our house before it was destroyed.
Our plan was to kill the suitors before they killed us. During this, no one must know of my fathers arrival. Although I wish it didn't have to come to bloodshed we had no choice. Our decision was that we had to kill the suitors in order to have peace. I never thought before this mess that I would ever kill a man, let alone many men. I thought to myself: Could we have killed innocent people? Yes, but they could have betrayed us later I said, and was reassured that we did the right thing.
Finally there was peace in my house. My house was back to normal because my father was back. My mother didn't believe that my father was home at first. She believed that he was never coming home. When she realized he was they were so happy to see each other. I was so happy. My family was reunited again. I never thought that my journey would result this way in such a success. I had become a man, and followed in my fathers footsteps. I was so happy with everything coming back together."
And so Telemachus got out of his bed and made his way down stairs to greet his parents. They were finally together for a feast to celebrate his father's return.
