Disclaimer- If I owned Young Justice, I would be messing with EVERYTHING! XD
I wrote a free verse poem on how Dick felt when he watched his parents die so I thought I should do a poem on their funeral.
Rain fell like
tears
as Dick
stared
with blank eyes
at
two
coffins.
They were dead.
HIS
PARENTS
WERE
DEAD.
That was enough
to make
any
child
cry tears of
sadness
yet Dick
could
not shed
any.
His tears
were
gone.
He could no
longer cry
like every
child
could.
He no longer
contained
the childlike
innocence
of
a child
either.
His heart was
now
scarred
with adult-like
emotions
and
memories
that would never
fade.
Never.
Dick could not
hear
anything.
He could only hear
his mother's
cries
as
she
fell.
That haunting sound
tore
him up
inside.
Now he was
alone,
an orphan.
He had
no
one.
Absolutely no one.
A hand rested
upon
his burdened shoulder
as a strangled
sob
escaped
Dick's tight lips.
The hand was
warm
like his father's,
only softer
and . . .
lonelier.
Had this hand
also
experienced
this feeling,
the feeling that
held Dick's
broken
heart?
Soft words reached
his cold ears
as the rain
slowed.
"I understand."
Though simple words
they
were,
the meaning
meant
so much
more.
Dick looked at the
lonely
hand
and smiled
with dripping
sadness.
This hand . . .
It understood
his
pain
but that itself
was
a very
sad
thing.
"Do you miss them?"
"Always."
Dick sighed with
broken
hope.
"So . . . it doesn't go away?"
"Never."
A/N- So how was it? Review! This was 274 words.
