Okay, so I know that I tried doing a whole story with my OCs but I didn't like the way it started and the general direction it was going in. I was relying too much on canon characters to move the story along. So, I'm going to restart this story from the beginning and this time I'm going to try and flesh out these characters a little more. So please join me in welcoming back Pokémon Champion Journey.

[New Bark Town – 12:15pm]

Nick had just woken up late in the morning. He couldn't get to sleep last night so he stayed up packing his backpack for his up coming journey. He has been waiting for years to start his Pokémon journey. His mom wanted him to start his journey later than most because she didn't want him to go on his journey unprepared. As a result, he now must start his journey at the age of 16. Who the heck starts their journey at 16 years old? Nick's friends started their journeys years ago and most of them had become fairly notable trainers in their own right. Nick had to watch his friends leave town while he was stuck at home studying. Now he was finally going to get his first Pokémon from Professor Elm today! That is, if he managed to get out of the house on time.

"Nick wake up! You're going to be late!" his mom said from downstairs

"Okay mom." Nick said as he got dressed

For his new journey Nick decided to just wear an open grey jacket with a navy-blue stripe across the chest over a black shirt, blue jeans, and red and white sneakers. With this outfit he wore a blue backpack that held all of his supplies in it. He then made his way over to the mirror to see how he looked. His blue eyes stared back at him as he noticed that his black hair was a mess, but he didn't mind too much since he could never seem to get it under control.

After deciding that he was somewhat presentable to leave he went downstairs to greet his mother. When he made it downstairs he noticed that the family pet Rattata was snarling at him as usual. You see, when Nick's mom first told him that he would have to wait until he was 16 to leave home on his journey he was reasonably devastated. To make it up to him she went out and caught a Rattata so that he could still get some experience with Pokémon. What she didn't count on however was that certain Rattata having a crush on her. It wasn't anything too serious, but Rattata refused to share Nick's mom with anyone else. Not even Nick. So, when he showed up at the house Rattata made Nick's life at home a little more uncomfortable.

"Yeah yeah, I'm glad I'm leaving too you little monster" Nick said to Rattata before he went over to his mom.

"Well mom today is finally the day" Nick said with a smile on his face.

"I'm so proud of you Nick I hope you do well sweetie" his mom said as she gave him a hug.

"Oh, before I forget, I got this for you." Nick's mom said as she pulled out a small green gift box

Nick accepted the package from his mother's hands and opened it up. It was a brand new Pokégear. It was a blue and had two half circles on each side.

"Woah, thanks mom!" Nick said has he gave his mom another hug

"Go make me proud sweetheart."

"I will mom" Nick said as he walked out the door

Professor Elm's lab wasn't too far away from where Nick lived. It was only about 3 blocks away from his house. While on his way over there Nick was thinking about what he was going to do to catch up with everyone.

"Everyone's way ahead of me right now." Nick thought "If I want to catch up I'm going to really need to train"

As Nick was thinking he made it to Professor Elm's lab. There he noticed two kids, a boy and a girl, around 10 years old waiting to get in just like he was. The boy was wearing a maroon shirt, dark green shorts, and black shoes. While the girl was wearing a green jersey, white shorts, and a pair of matching green gym shoes.

"What are doing here mister?" The boy asked

"I'm here to get my first Pokémon" Nick replied

"Aren't you a little old for your first Pokémon?" The boy asked

"Aren't you a little young to be minding someone else's business?" Nick asked

"Why are you starting your journey so late?" The girl asked ignoring Nick's previous statement

"Oh, for Arceus sake." Nick said as he facepalmed

Before he could try to defend himself, Nick noticed that the door to the lab began to open.

"Oh good, you're all here." Professor Elm said as he opened the door "Come in, you're Pokémon are waiting for you."

The three new trainers then walking into the lab and followed Professor Elm to the main room where a Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita were on a table.

"Now that you have come of age it is time for you three new trainers to go on your own Pokémon journey." Elm said

Nick couldn't help but to groan as Elm continued to give a generic speech about coming of age and the wonders of one's first journey. He just wanted to go on his journey but hearing this just made it even more evident that he might be too old for this.

"…Now who wants to be first to get their first Pokémon?" Elm asked as Nick was dragged out of his thoughts. Both of the younger trainers that were with him were eager to choose their first Pokémon. Meanwhile Nick was just stood there hoping that neither of them picked the Pokémon that he wanted.

"Now now you two, how about we let Nick pick first?" Elm said as he gestured to Nick.

"How come?" The boy asked

"Well Sam, Nick has been waiting for 16 years to start his journey. I think it's only fair that he gets to choose first" Elm said as he gestured towards Nick, "Well Nick, which Pokémon are you going to choose?"

"Professor Elm, I've been thinking for 6 years about this. So, I'm going to choose Cyndaquil." Nick said as he went over to pick up the Cyndaquil from the table.

"Good choice Nick, here are your Pokédex and Pokéballs." Elm said as he handed Nick his new equipment.

"Oh, good." Sam said as he breathed a big sigh of relief

"Is something wrong Sam?" Elm asked

"I thought he was going to choose Totodile." Sam said

"And I thought he was going to choose Chikorita." The girl said

"No need to worry Sam, you too Haley. I have many other Pokémon just in case two new trainers wanted the same Pokémon." Elm explained as he handed the two new trainers Pokéballs "And it seems that you two know which Pokémon you want."

After they all received their Pokémon and Pokédexs, the three new trainers went their separate ways.

[Route 29 – 6:24pm]

Nick was currently on his way to Cherrygrove City so that he could register for the Pokémon league. It was his biggest goal for his journey. While on his way he wanted to be able to at least catch one Pokémon. It was getting late into the afternoon, so he had to hurry if he wanted to make it to the next town by nightfall. So far nothing was jumping out at him. So far Nick just battled a few Pidgey and Rattata that were on Route 29. Nick saw a few shadowy people skulking around the route as if they were looking for something. Nick had enough common sense to not to mess with them. He was almost at Cherrygrove City when Cyndaquil came out of its Pokéball and began to wonder around.

"Cyndaquil what's up?" Nick asked as his new Pokémon started to sniff around the route. He started to follow Cyndaquil and got further away from the shadowy people that were behind him. When Nick finally caught up with Cyndaquil he noticed that someone was laying down in the grass. Now normally this wouldn't be an issue for Nick since he believes that people should do whatever the hell they want, but what he noticed was that the person he saw before him looked like she had seen better days. Her long brown hair was a mess, her green tank top was smudged with dirt, her light blue skinny jeans had it right knee torn, her shoes looked caked in mud, and to top it off what had looked like a short-sleeved shirt was currently wrapped around something, but Nick couldn't tell what it was.

"Good find Cyndaquil." Nick said as he pulled out his Pokégear and dialed the nearest Officer Jenny. "Hello, Officer Jenny. I'm currently on Route 29 and I found someone unconscious. She looks hurt." Nick said

"Okay, don't worry I'll be there as soon as possible." Officer Jenny said as she hung up on the other end.

What Nick didn't notice was that behind him one of the shadowy people noticed his phone call and came over.

"Hey kid do you need any help." The guy said. He was wearing all black and had a two Pokéballs on his belt.

"Uh, no thanks man I already called for help." Nick said as he tried to brush the man off

"I'm going to have to insist." The man said as he pulled out a Pokéball and threw it forward. Out of it came an Ariados. "Now why don't let me help myself to the egg the girl has?"

"Egg, what egg?" Nick asked confused

"Look kid I'll make this simple. She has an egg that me and my associates want. So we're going to get it from her by any means necessary" the man said as he and his Ariados crept forward

"Yeah, I don't think so. Cyndaquil let's roast this guy!" Nick said as Cyndaquil jumped in front of his new trainer.

"Suit yourself!" The man said "Ariados, use poison sting!"

Ariados shot out many poisonous needles towards Cyndaquil at high speed

"Cyndaquil, dodge and use tackle!" Nick said as Cyndaquil ran around trying to evade the needles while closing in for a tackle attack, but Ariados just countered by swiping it with one of its legs. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but Cyndaquil was tired from battling all day.

"Oh no! Cyndaquil!" Nick said as Cyndaquil got sent back a few feet.

"Face, it kid you won't be able to beat me so just get out of the way." The man said as he got closer

Nick tried to think of what to do when he noticed a Hoothoot out of the corner of his eye. He knew that if could somehow catch it he could battle this guy's Ariados. Then Nick thought of what he could do.

"Cyndaquil quick use Smokescreen!" Nick yelled as Cyndaquil released a cloud of smoke from its mouth obscuring the man and Ariados' vision. Nick was able to get a Pokéball from his belt and threw it hoping to catch Hoothoot without battling it. When the Pokéball hit Hoothoot it shook in midair for a second before hitting the ground. Nick then ran over to pick up his newly capture Pokémon.

When the smoke cleared the man was still there but now he was joined by two more goons with even more Ariados.

"Oh man, there are way too many of them." Nick thought "Oh well, I gotta hold them off until Officer Jenny gets here!"

"Hoothoot go!" Nick said as his newly captured Pokémon came out of its ball "Use Peck on the middle Ariados go!"

The owl Pokémon wasted no time attacking the middle Ariados. The attack was super effective, but the opposing Ariados were just too strong.

"Ariados use sucker punch" one of the goons said as Hoothoot was also knocked back

"Oh man." Nick said as even his new Pokémon was taken down

"It's over now kid" one of the goons said as they all came close to Nick and the mystery girl.

Before anything too bad could happen, sirens could be heard in the distance. It was a small police squad led by Officer Jenny.

"Hey boss what do we do?" One of the goons asked looking a little nervous. Sure, they could all handle one kid, but a squad of cops would be trouble.

"We retreat for now, count yourself lucky kid!" The now revealed boss yelled as he and his goons recalled their Ariados and fled the scene.

As soon as the officers arrived Nick explained what had happened and told them about the girl he had found in the grass. The officers then drove Nick and the mystery girl to Cherrygrove City. The entire ride silent as Nick kept thinking about what had happened over and over again. Who were those guys? And why where they after an Egg of all things? He wanted to ask the girl that was found but she has yet to wake up. As soon as they reached the city Nick went to the police station to answer any question the officers had while the mystery girl was taken to the local hospital. It was too late to visit her by the time Nick got out of the station, so he went over to the Pokémon center to get a good night's rest. He'd have to see if she were awake tomorrow to get any answers.

[Cherrygrove City Hospital – 11:05pm]

The girl from earlier began to wake up slowly. She had to brace herself on the hospital bed railing as she was still disoriented from being unconscious for so long. She looked around to see that she was in a hospital bed. Near her was what she assumed was her belongings A bag, A pile of clothes, and a Pokémon egg in an incubator. She looked around in confusion and tried to remember what had happened, but her memory was just a bunch of white noise.

"Who am I? and what am I doing here?" She wondered as she sat there wondering who she really was.
