It was going to be a long night or so Jarod had said, as they waited to see if Davey would react positively to the medication. After he'd been given the injection he'd needed so badly from Jarod, Davey had fallen asleep in the arms of his self appointed guardian angel. Timmy or was it Angelo again?

Squeezing her eyes closed, Miss Parker shook her head as she found herself having trouble sleeping. She didn't know why the sacrifice Angelo had made for the little boy haunted her so much as she tried to get a little sleep. Tomorrow, time would tell if Davey would be all right or not but no matter what the outcome was with him, Parker promised herself she was taking Jarod back to the Centre. He was NOT going to be escaping from her again, even if it took shooting the Pretender in the foot.

Miss Parker smiled at that thought. Jarod had been a very big pain in the foot and other worse places for her the last two years. Tomorrow she'd end this endless chasing him around in circles when she marched him back into the Centre. After he was back in, she'd talk to her Daddy one last time before leaving the unholy place the Centre was and she'd wash her hands of it forever.

Timmy's sacrifice haunted her thoughts . . .

"He's a boy. LET him be a boy."

Angelo's words played over again and again in her mind. He'd given up his chance at having a NORMAL life so that Davey wouldn't have to live what he'd lived through all those years since Raines fried his brain. Since Raines had destroyed his mind, he'd been seen nothing more than ones of Raines' experiments gone wrong and his empathic abilities were certainly seen as a tool for the Centre's use.

Use?

Miss Parker laughed softly to herself. The Centre exploited and abused everyone and everything within its grasp to obtain its own ends. They had used Jarod, Angelo, Sydney, Broots, and even her to get what they wanted. It was as simple as that. The Centre had no conscience and it couldn't care less about the people it'd hurt in the process.

Parker looked over where Davey slept peacefully in the safety of Timmy's arms. For now, Timmy was still with them but soon he'd return to being Angelo.

Cousin Itt.

Jello Brains.

Mush Head.

She remembered all the derogatory names she had called Angelo over the last two years and she felt ashamed for it. While spending these last few hours with him and Jarod, she saw that he was human too and that he'd been terribly wronged when Raines had turned his brain into what it was. He hadn't deserved her cruel remarks. Miss Parker was also relatively sure her mother would have frowned on her daughter if she'd ever heard her say such things.

But beyond his rights as a human being, there was a possibility that Angelo was her brother. Her twin brother, stolen by Raines for God knows only what at birth. Jarod has also said that there was a chance that Mr. Lyle was her brother and the thought made her shudder. She hoped in some small way that it was the person who would soon be Angelo again and NOT that psychopath Lyle.

As she watched Timmy and Davey in their sleep, she made a silent vow that she'd try to be more kind to Angelo in the future. Whether he was her brother or not. Because of the sacrifice he'd made for little Davey she saw him as a human being that for the very first time . . .
