When he first met her, she was screaming. Her face was scarlet and she was covered in blood. But damn it, if she wasn't the most beautiful girl he had ever met.
It was love at first sight.
Eddie, being MIA as usual, meant that Gil was the first one to hold Lindsey. His voice, the first sound her virgin ears heard. He was the first to call her the name Catherine and he had agonized weeks over out loud.
Moments later she stops crying and stares at him with large soulful blue eyes. He was never good with women, his work has and always will come first. But starring into her eyes he swears to every god in the sky and below the earth that she will be protected and loved. There will be no monsters under her bed. He will slay them all.
The logical part of his brain says a promise like this is impossible to keep and he's even crazy for making it. But for Lindsey Anne Willows his first and only godchild, he would do anything. Because he was always a sucker for a pretty blonde. And because, face it, even at five minutes old she, like her mother has him wrapped around her little finger.
