...Every time I see you, all the rays of the sun
Are streaming through the waves in your hair...

"Ro, is there something wrong?"
"No, Zee," Ro sighed, crossing her arms over her chest, "I'm perfectly fine."
Zeta appeared confused at the contradiction of her outward expression and her reassuring words. "Ro, you don't appear to be fine. You-"
"Zee," Ro interrupted, turning around to face him, the both of them surrounded by perpetual forest, "the last thing I want to hear about is how I look, okay?" A shaft of sunlight streamed lazily down onto her short blonde hair, filtering along her white-on-black shirt and blue jeans in golden waves.
"What do you mean?" Zeta questioned, his usual human form's black eyebrows lowering in puzzlement.
Ro sighed again, seating herself on a fallen brown log half-buried in the thick earth. "I...well, I need to know that I'm pretty! And nobody ever tells me that anymore," she said quickly, cheeks a light pink birthed from embarrassment at what she assumed to be a petty reason for feeling depressed.
He looked steadily at her, cocking his head to one side. "If someone told you that you were pretty, would you be happy?"
She shrugged, kicking a small patch of moss idly. "I guess so."
"Well, then," Zeta sounded pleased, "you are pretty."
Ro opened her mouth, blinked, and closed her mouth, shaking her head while laughing quietly.
"What?" he looked worried. "That was the correct thing to say, wasn't it?"
"You're clueless," she told him.
"About what?'
"I'll tell you after we find Dr. Selig, Zee. Now move faster or we'll never get anywhere, will we?"
"Actually, Ro, at the pace we're currently moving at, we will be-"
"Zee. It was a rhetorical question."

THE END (Don't kill me! I'll write a longer one!)

Oh, criminy, THIS was pathetic. Ah, well, school got out May 24 here in New Mexico, so that means I'll have time to write a decent sized Z/R fanfic! No, I have no life. Mail me at Lisa@ascot-sama.zzn.com or leave a review!
