It was a warm summer day and the sun was setting to make the sky a beautiful mix of gold and vermilion. A man with blond hair was walking towards a cliff with a corgi and sat down in front of a grave. The grave had a simple phrase engraved on it saying, 'Thus I kindly scatter'. Sighing heavily, the man spoke in a forlorn voice.
"Hi, Summer. It's been a while since I came to talk to you. I know it's been the same with Ruby and Yang," the man began speaking to the grave as if the person it was dedicated to was there with him. "It has been over 12 long years since you left us. The house is pretty quiet without you or the girls around. But, I'm still getting up and teaching at Signal. Taiyang is still fighting! Just… more than monsters and bad people."
The dog looked up at his master and saw his sad face. He was smiling, but his eyes revealed the lonely and broken heart of a man that lost so much. Taiyang's eyes started to tear up as he started speaking again. "I miss you, Summer. I still love you, but I miss you at my side."
The adorable corgi snuggled up to Taiyang's side and licked his fingers. Looking down at him, the man just laughed a little. "Thanks, Zwei. I'm sure Summer wouldn't want me to be like this. I miss her, but she and Qrow would want me to keep moving forward." Seeing a wild crow landing next to the grave, Taiyang soon turned to the east and thought about something.
"Maybe I should leave for a few days? Get away from the island and get ready for doing missions again," the blond said to himself. Looking down at Zwei again as the dog started scratching his ears, Tai thought to himself. 'What am I going to do with you though, you little fuzzy butt?'
Remembering back when he and his team were at Beacon Academy, Taiyang recalled something he was known for as a prank on Ozpin. Because only a small number of people knew about Qrow's Semblance, Taiyang had his teammate transform and stuffed him into a cylinder before sending it to Ozpin's office. When the headmaster opened his mail, Qrow popped out in bird form and startled Ozpin before flying out an open window.
Laughing at the memory that got him and Qrow a severe detention, Taiyang remembered when he surprised Ruby and Yang with the dog by doing the same trick. They were squealing in delight when a tiny corgi popped out of a box addressed to the girls. After a whole afternoon of playing with the new dog, the three of them took a nap on the living room floor together.
Smiling fondly at the second memory of his daughters, Taiyang figured out what to do with Zwei. Turning back to the grave, he spoke to Summer's gravestone again. "I think that I should be ready to help our little girls, Summer. I'll mail Zwei to them and leave for a while to get stronger. I can't let what happened to them as kids repeat itself. Qrow won't be there to protect them all the time," he explained. "I won't let my family be broken anymore."
