I wrote this letter for a boy I fell in love with. I know I never will have the courage to give it to him, but I can't just keep it bottled up. It's completely OOC and AU. The parts about France and Patria are what I added to make more related to Enjolras and Eponine. The rest is the original letter I hope you guys like it, but if you don't I hope you're not too harsh.
*Disclaimer: The letter is mine, but the rest belongs to Victor Hugo and Cameron Mackintosh.
Eponine found a scrap of paper and with a nervous glance behind her, she jotted down what she'd been keeping locked up in her heart. There were many pauses and sighs as she tried to convey what she needed. When she had finished and she quickly read through what she had written.
Enjolras,
To love another person is to see the face of God. This must be why I love you so much. When I see you, I see God. You are a beautiful and holy man who loves this country and who wants to fight for the people of the slums. I pray that you may be graced enough to find all the happiness in the world. I can only hope that you may privilege me with being a part of that happiness. Whether it may be as a friend or something more, I only hope that you will see me there waiting one day. If it's not me, I hope the woman that God has put in your path is worthy of you. I hope that Patria is good enough for you. I love you. God bless you.
Eponine
When Eponine had finished reading, she looked up. She had ended up by the bridge and without thinking, she neared the edge. Peering down at seemingly bottomless river, she gripped the bridge and listened. In the distance she could hear the muffled yells of the were only a few hours before Lamarque's funeral, before The Amis would go off to fight. Before Enjolras would go. There were only a few hours left before she could possibly lose the love of her life. She had to go and join them. She needed to fight by his side. With one final glance at the violent river, she turned and ran toward the noise. Toward her beloved. Toward death.
There was a gentle gust of wind that fluttered around the bridge. The letter that Eponine had so lovingly written shuddered as the breeze picked it up. It floated and twirled momentarily before it plunged into the dark abyss of the thrashing river. It was for certain that no person would ever know what that letter contained. No one would know how a young, innocent street urchin had loved the handsome, stoic statue that had been the leader of the revolution. It seemed for certain that nobody would ever know.
But someone did know. And God in his infinite mercy looked down and smiled sadly. He knew what was to come from this rebellion, but he also knew that this was not the end. He had plans for these young revolutionaries. Though those plans would not happen in this life, they were sure to happen in another. One day Eponine would melt the marble statue. One day Enjolras would find equality. One day they would find what they had always wanted: Freedom and Love.
I really hope you guys liked it. At first I planned on posting just the letter itself, but I felt that I needed to add more. This was my first shot at fan fiction and I kind of liked it! If you liked it, review! If you didn't, that's okay, review! I would love to know how I can improve. Thanks!
