Every First Breath
My parents were Lily and James Potter.
That makes me Harry Potter, and that's something to say. I'm a hero in my world. A legend. A person people read about in their Evening Prophet and comment on, say things at their dinner table, like, That Harry Potter's done it again or Potter's son is starting at Hogwarts, maybe you'll make friends with him, Bobby, dear.
That's the way it's been for nearly my whole life. I was famous from the age of one year old, and I have my mother and father to thank for that.
I'm holding my sleeping daughter. She's small for her age, light. Her grandmother is constantly urging her toe at more, but Lily knows better.
I set her on her bed and tuck the blankets in around her. Before I put out the light, I take one last look at my daughter, with her flaming red hair and peaceful expression.
I wish my parents were here to see this.
