Rikki's POV
Ok, so I'm stuck on a balcony with Zane. Of all people why Zane? I hate him, he hates me, that's all there is to it. However, because I'm stuck here why not make the most of it? I keep noticing that whenever Zane comes closer to the edge he starts to hyperventilate, is he afraid of heights?
"What's wrong?" I ask as he yet again hyperventilates.
"Nothing," he replies, obviously lying.
"You're not going to turn into a vampire of something, are you?" I ask trying to be funny.
"I never should have listened to you, what did you have to come out here for?" He replies seeming really irritated.
"What? Are you scared of heights or something?" I ask so confused. He continues to pace around the balcony. "It's okay, everyone's afraid of something.
"Oh yeah, what are you scared of?" He asks trying to get something out of me.
As I think about it for a moment I realize that the only fear is water but I couldn't tell him that. "Hmm, Here," I state as I pull him to the edge of the balcony.
"No," he argues.
"Trust me."
"No, I can't."
"Just trust me, trust me." We argue then I got him to the edge. He grabs the edge with all his force.
"Pretend I'm a painting or something you admire," I tell him.
"A painting?" Zane asks.
"Or, a speedboat or some stupid car, something that makes you happy," I compromise.
Zane's POV
"Or, a speedboat or some stupid car, something that makes you happy," Rikki compromises.
I start to think 'Something that makes me happy? Well my ex-girlfriend Miriam made me happy.' I start to think about Miriam, slowly Miriam morphs into Rikki, that's when I realize that maybe there might be something there that makes me happy.
"Feeling better?" Rikki asks me.
"Yeah, thanks," I thank her. I spend the rest of the time just finding a reason to talk to her, find out more about her. With that I notice there is something wrong when it starts to rain, she runs to the covered area of the balcony without a drop on her.
"Do you want this?" I ask taking off my jacket as I walk after her.
"Thanks I don't want to get wet," she accepts. Then I put the jacket on her. We stare into each others eyes for a second, I move the hair out of her face, and then I lean in to kiss her but…
"What's wrong with you, Zane? I wait all afternoon for my notes; you don't turn up at the seminar, and the hotel staff hands me these," my dad says and holds up the paper airplanes me and Rikki shot off the balcony earlier. We walk inside.
"We were trying to get someone's attention," I argue.
"By ruining my notes?" He fights.
"It wasn't like that," Rikki adds from behind me.
"I wasn't talking to you, and don't lie. Honestly, if you have to waste time with a girl at least pick one with a future, like one of the girls at the seminar," he told me but was referring to Rikki.
"Her name is Rikki, and she was one of the girls at the seminar, only smarter she didn't fall for it; and by the way I'm not an errand boy so stop treating me like one!" I argue with everything I have; no one messes with Rikki.
"I'd like to say it was nice meeting you, but that would be a lie." Rikki was so proud of herself. She walked out of the room, down the hall, and to the elevator, she pushed the button. The elevator opens and she steps in. As the door closes I stop it right before it closes.
"You still got my jacket," I state, and she gives it back.
I walk up to her as I think 'It's now or never, if I wimp out now there will be no other opportunity.' I lean in and kiss her, she kisses back, and she slowly disappears into the elevator.
THE END
If you think I should continue please tell me.
