Vampire Baseball

"Excellent!" Alice exclaimed, as she came back to the present.

Edward, who had been playing the piano with a solemn expression, lit up with a thousand watt smile.

Irritation and confusion automatically took over me, and with a glance around the room I could see that the feelings were mutual. Jacob, who appeared to be the most irritated, finally spoke up, "Would someone like to explain what's going here?"

Edward, seeming to just realize we were here, answered with uncontained excitement "It's going to storm tonight."

"And," asked Jake obviously growing impatient

"And," replied Alice "it's going to thunder."

The atmosphere in the room changed drastically, from confusion to sudden excitement. Emmett gave Jasper a high- five, Rosalie grinned, Carlisle and Esme exchanged small smiles, while Jake and Seth looked more confused than ever. I didn't quite know how to feel, on one hand I was extremely excited, I mean I have never really played vampire baseball before, but on the other hand I was extremely nervous, worried I would make a fool of myself, not to mention the last time there was a baseball match, I was almost killed by a sadistic vampire.

"What's so important about a thunder storm?" questioned Reneesme, glancing at Seth and Jacob, evidently sharing their confusion.

Emmett let out a peal of laughter, "What's so important about a thunder storm she says," He sniggered "don't you guys teach her anything?"

Rose turned to glare at Emmett, then gave Reneesme a small smile, "A thunder storm means there will be a baseball match tonight." She responded calmly.

"But why do you need thunder to play baseball?" inquired Seth, looking perplexed.

A wide smile spread across my face as I spoke the words "You'll see."

I stood gazing around the clearing, Edward on one side of me, Reneesme on the other, remembering the events that took place here. There was my first baseball game, though being human at the time I could only watch. That was also my first encounter with traditional vampires, James, Victoria, and Laurent. Though each had met their demise, I could still remember, through murky human memories, the terror and anxiety each caused my family and I. There was the army of new borns that came to destroy the Cullens and I, led by Victoria. Finally, there was the close encounter with the Volturi, that memory came back the strongest, as it had happened only weeks before.

I shuddered as I remembered those things, causing Edward to give me a questioning look. I loosened my shield and let him see what was going on in my head. Reneesme, understanding what was going, sighed, knowing she wasn't going to find out what the exchange was about.

"Are you guys coming or not?" demanded Emmett, hopping from foot to foot.

I couldn't help but laugh as I replied "Of course." Grabbing Edward's and Reneesme's hand, I ran to where the others stood waiting.
