It was about time Zia admitted it. Her heart knew. She could tell by the way it tap danced whenever he was around. She'd never felt this way, and she didn't care. She was in love. It was time to face the music.
Carter and her were sharing a milkshake, something he had said was a common American tradition, so she went along. They had been going out for a few years now…4 was it? Yes, 4.
She smiled up at him lightly, "Thank you, Carter."
"For?" Carter laughed, but his eyes told her he was puzzled.
"Everything," Zia reached across the small diner table and held his hand.
Even though they had done this so many times, Carter was still flustered. It was adorable to Zia.
"No problem, Zia," he said awkwardly.
That's when it really hit her. She knew she wanted the rest of her life to be spent with this Kane child. The goofy, dictionary of a magician. He made her feel safe. Carter was the key to Zia's lock. He made her feel more alive than anyone else. That's why this felt so right.
"I love you, Carter."
