Three Wishes [James & Lily]
I don't understand you one bit.
"I want to change," you say, as though you are not already perfect. You want so much in life; you want to experience it all.
Don't you realise there are a million girls out there dying to be you? You have everything, but you still want to change. You don't want to be yourself anymore. To you, you're boring. You're a waste; you're not interesting enough.
I don't see that. I think you're brilliant and feisty and sparks fly whenever you breathe. You're amazing, really something.
So why aren't you happy with what you've got?
Rosie tells me that when she was younger, she wanted so badly to be you. You were a brat when you were a kid, but it was only in a good way. You could get away with anything; you were brimming with confidence.
Now? Rose confesses how happy she is as herself, and you can see that when you look at her – she's ridiculously self-assured. She's upset that you've changed, though, even when you protest you haven't.
Why do you want to be something you already are?
The Lily I know jumps straight into things, leaving a trail of chaos behind her; kicks many a Slytherin's ass with the type of magic other students can only dream of; and to top it all off, is gorgeous.
You really are stunning, Lee.
I wish you'd see that. I wish you'd see Lysander's face whenever you walk by – he's in love with you, we all are.
I know that sounds a tad creepy considering the fact I'm your brother; but I didn't mean it like that with me.
I adore you, Lily, you're the most awesome little sister and best friend I could ask for.
Sure, you wish so badly for the extremities in life: you want to fly to heaven; you want to swim with fishes; you want to fall so deeply in love it seems unreal.
I know I can't stop that. I've tried, dear, we've all tried. Neither I nor anyone else knows how to snap that out of you. How many times do you need to be told you're freaking perfect?
Because you are, Lily. But you want more, and I can't give that to you.
I'm going to stand by you and support you until I have nothing left … although I'm going to have to let you go when you see I just bring back memories of the old you.
Just be happy with what you've got, Lee, and stop trying to be someone else. Don't set your expectations on the things others haven't done; instead, just be you.
Because you really, truly are amazing.
