Hey everyone. This story was brought to you by Ancient Runes: Runes assignment and Our Tangled Webs on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Ancient Runes: Runes assignment I wrote for task number 4: INGWAZ - NG and the task was to write about a new life. For our Tangled Webs I wrote for the pairing of Marlene/Lucius. Warning for racisim on the Malfoy parents part. I hope you all enjoy New Life.
Marlene could see Lucius's parents glaring into the room at her and their newborn child. It was as though they blamed her for making Lucius's eye wander from his perfect pure-blood bride to be. She hadn't asked him to start their relationship. She hadn't even asked for his affection. It was Lucius who had started this thing between them.
"Are you going to marry this girl?" snapped Luicius's father. "The Blacks are going to be furious about this. Do you know what you have done to this family with your chil..."
"I had no intentions of this happening," Lucius told his father.
Marlene tuned them out looking down at the child they'd created together. She was perfect. From the blonde peach fuzz at the top of her head to the ten perfect tiny toes on her feet. Blue eyes stared up at her adoringly as the child reached a tiny hand up and grab a blonde curl that had fallen from her pillow. The child tugged non to gently causing Marlene to hiss in pain.
"She has a pretty strong grip," Lucius's mother sneered at Marlene. "What have you decided to name the child? Have you consulted Lucius on this matter? We have a few names that have been handed down to family members in the past. Even though you aren't a family member we'd be generous enough to consider giving them to you seeing as the child is one of our blood."
"Actually I planned on naming her Lily after my friends," Marlene told the older woman.
The older woman pursed her lips at this new. Never in her entire life had she ever heard of a Malfoy child being named after friend of the family. Let alone a Muggle-born. "That won't do at all," sputtered the old woman angrily.
"What's wrong, dear?" asked Lucius's father walking over to his wife.
"She wants to name the child after her little Muggle-born friend," sneered the older woman as though this was the worst possible thing to ever happen in the whole world.
Marlene looked down to see her little Lily watched the scene before them unfold with a cold sort of detachment a child shouldn't have. Especially a newborn. Kissing the child's head she determined that no what her child was going to be named Lily.
"It doesn't matter what the child is name," Lucius told his parents. "Marlene has agreed to raise the child on her own. I will have other children with Narcissa. Won't that be enough for you?"
That seemed to appease his parents who left without a further word. Marlene sighed in relief not bothering to look up at Lucius because like he said he didn't plan on being a father to this little girl. He hadn't planned on being there for her even when he'd been told about her.
"You will let me know if there is anything the child requires," Lucius told her basically.
"I can get us whatever we need," she told Lucius. "We don't really need anything from you or your parents, Lucius. But thank you for the lovely visit." She looked pointedly at the door. From this point on she had the new life of a single mother to live and live it she would.
I hope you all enjoyed New Life.
