A little warning: This one is dark (yeah... that's what I do).

I am considering writing more chapters, that explores the story further, but this also works as a one-shot... for now I can't really decide. Let me know what you think. :)

Confessions

"Tell me what is going on," he said, trying to stay as calm as he possibly could. The temptation of grabbing a chair and flinging it across the room was like an itch in his fingers. However, he sat still, trying to hear her out.

The tension in the living room was thick. The remaining witnesses in the lair were in shock; for once even Casey didn't know what to say. All eyes were on the two mutants, as they sat there finally confronting one another.

"You don't understand," she whispered in a sad voice, as she leaned herself back in the couch. His patience, which he didn't have much of to begin with, was now officially gone.

"I DON'T?!" Raphael yelled at her. Angrily he tore off his wristbands, and turned his bare arms towards Mona Lisa. Two deep scars, one on each wrist, were showing. She removed her vision from his wrists to his eyes.

"Did… did you really do that?" she asked in shock.

"Yes, I did. A couple of years ago." He could feel himself getting more upset, as he looked at his girlfriend.

"Why?" she asked miserably.

"Oh, I don't know!" Raphael answered sarcastically. "Because I thought everyone hated me. Because I hated myself. There are always a million reasons. I am just lucky that my family saved me."

She nodded.

"Just like you saved me."

Raphael made a sound of frustration.

"That's not what I'm trying to say."

"Then what?" she asked.

He sighed.

"This is karma on a whole new level, Mona! Leonardo was the one who found me. And every single one of my family members helped me recover. So how damn ironic is it that four years later I find you, trying to do the same thing."

"I didn't…"

"Yes, you did. You know very well that you did."

She just looked at him.

"How the hell is it possible for one person, who has gone through the same experience, not to notice, when his girlfriend is in the same type of pain?" he mumbled.

"It's not your fault," she said. Silence occurred for a few seconds. "Do you want me to apologize?"

"No, I just want you to admit it."

"Admit what?"

"God dammit, don't you understand? I know what it's like. I tried to escape just like you. I tried to commit suicide four years ago! There, I said it. At least I can admit it."

"But… I didn't mean to hurt you…"

"So what, Mona?" Raphael spat out, feeling his voice tremble as the reflection in his eyes finally showed her and his family how much he cared. "It still fucking hurt."
