Author's Note: Hello, all! My rather odd muse has decided to poke me into action. Apparently it wants me to write a Harry Potter fanfic, something that I had not in the least bit intended on doing. I think that I'm slightly insane, what with exams coming up and all, so don't blame me if this story gets a little hard to follow. I think that I managed to get this chapter reasonably understandable. Please let me know if you like this story or not. I'll probably continue no matter what, but a little bit of flattery wouldn't hurt.

Chapter One - Gasp Hogwarts is gone?!

The two wizards stood, a little unsteadily, upon the mud that covered the entire area that used to be Hogwarts. Both had their wands raised. It was obvious that curses had already been tossed back and forth, to judge by the greenish tinge to the air colour, and the footprints that ran throughout the mud. The taller one stepped forward.

"I'm winning, aren't I, Potter," he said with a grin that made him look even more evil than he already did, if that was possible. Harry Potter stumbled back.

"No you aren't," Harry yelled. "I won't let you!" He leveled his wand, preparing for an attack. His inspiration, however, was decidedly lacking. What curse to use? The ones he'd already tried had obviously failed, and his brain was to fogged with grief and anger to come up with any more.

The Dark Lord took another step, and pointed his wand at Harry. "Avada Kedavra," he commented mildly, and green light sprang from his wand.

Fortunately, Harry chose that exact moment to lose his balance entirely, and he fell face first into the mud, missing the green light by mere millimeters. Unfortunately, however, a stone happened to be in the mud, which both broke his glasses completely and slightly rearranged his facial features.

He slowly pried his aching head from the ground to look into Voldemort's evil, if slightly fuzzy-looking, face. He raised his right arm, and proceeded to scream inarticulate rage in the general direction of Voldemort, complete with rude gestures. Both were startled when the ground began to move beneath them. For a moment all was silent, and then the earth exploded in a giant volcanic eruption.
