Chapter One: Him
He watched Rogue walk by herself on the way to school. She had done that a lot lately he noticed. He wondered if she just liked the space, or if she was afraid that by traveling with others she might hurt them. It almost made him sad that such a beautiful girl thought herself doomed to spend her life alone and away from people. But knowing her true purpose reassured him that her loneliness would not last for much longer.
She couldn't hurt him. Not even if she tried. He was a mutant too. His power made him immune to all other mutant powers, and if he wanted to he could even use their own powers against them. He used to be like Rogue, unable to control his power. Every time he touched a mutant their power would start going out of control and they would nearly hurt themselves. This made him an outcast not only among humans, but among mutants too. Just like Rogue's power did for her. But he learned to control it.
He stayed just outside the school grounds, far away enough to not be seen by anyone, but close enough to watch Rogue as she walked to the school entrance. She stopped just as she reached the door and looked in the direction of where he was hiding. He smiled to himself as he got full view of her beautiful face.
"Rogue," he whispered her name out loud. "I'm coming for you Rogue. And I'm going to give you the greatest gift of all. Once I give you the gift you will be mine." He watched as Rogue turned away and went inside. "I promise you Rogue you will be mine."
