Chapter 1

Jack Reed walked into the warehouse, watching for any signs of activity other than the glowing teleportation device and the small number of guards protecting it. He smiled. It would be easy for him to take them out. Jack walked behind one of them and snapped his neck. Then he pulled out a paracord and strangled the guard right in front of the last one. He swung his new victim into his friend ten feet away, garroting him in the process. A larger guard pulled out a machine gun and leveled it at the assassin. That was met with an AR 15 round to the head. The bullet and gun were made of shadow. Jack let the rifle dissipate back into a crate shadow. The entire fight took seconds.

"So, you are the one moving in on April's territory. She doesn't like people taking what belongs to her. I suggest you skip town," said Ree. His girlfriend, April, was the Kingpin of crime for Gotam. Ever since Joker and Batman's death, only one person could stand in April Hansen's way. Elais Entrari. The man standing in front of Jack. The mob boss smiled wickedly, bringing out a poisonous green blade from his jacket pocket. Jack made a shadow sword and sliced clean through the mob boss. Unfortunately, he also sliced the controls of the teleportation device. A mini black hole was made that sucked him through the gate. He cracked his head on the wall and blacked out.

When he woke up, he was surrounded by white armored soldiers with futuristic guns in their hands. He out his hand on the back of his head and obeyed them. This was a military facility, obviously, so he needed to find out who was in charge. He was brought forward to a girl about his age. When he was dragged in front of her, she said, "Leave us." They obeyed. Facing him, she studied him for a momen. Jack put on his best smile, hoping it would convince her he wasn't a threat. Jack went for the humorous approach. "So, are you some kind of space cop?" he asked. Her eyes narrowed into awls. He knew he needed to placate her into a state of not wanting to kill him. Otherwise, she would kill him. He would know from experience. "Um, where am I?" He decided to play ignorant, as he was ignorant and she was obviously in a place of power.

She sighed as if she had just decided he was boring and would be out of her hair in a few moments. " What is your name?"

"Jack Reed."

"What is your occupation?"

"I'm a detective," he lied. It was better than saying he was an assassin. That would get him killed. He was hoping to leave soon.

Her pale face lit up in curiosity. "You are strong in the Force," she commented. "Vader will want to see you."

Oh crap, thought Jack. Vader sounded like the kind of guy that would throw you out the window if you got him hubba bubba max instead of juicy gum.

She led him through a set of corridors, her black robes swishing from the speed of her stride, black armor glistening in the lights above. She passed officers and troops alike as if she were above their every existence. She couldn't be any older than him. A small set of horns on her head were almost hidden by her black hair. Red lines down the corners of her mouth made him think of blood. The fierce look on her face was complemented by a scar across her eye. He reminded himself not to annoy her.

Entering a room with almost no lights, a dark shape was silhouetted in the window. The window showed thousands of stars above and below them. They had to be in space! the thought disturbed him.

"Leave us, my apprentice," said a metallic voice.

"But, Master he-" said the girl in front of Jack. Or started to say, as was cut off by her "master".

"Is on an Imperial base, in the room of a Dark Lord of the Sith. Do you think me defenceless?" asked the voice, increasing in intensity with each word. The girl started to rise off the ground, clutching her throat. When he let go, she said between gasps, "No...Mas...Master." She left in a hurry.

"Step forward. I sense power within you. Power to rival Star, the girl in here before me, or my other apprentice," spoke the voice. It wasn't then he realized it was coming from the figure in front of him.

"Who are you?" asked Jack Reed.

The voice laughed as the figure turned towards him. It was a tortured sound, something out of nightmares. "I am Darth Vader, your new master. I am second only to the Emperor himself. In time, you will know me as master."

"I'm fine with that, so long as you don't kill me."

"You will wish I had, unless you crave power," Vader replied. "Leave me, and find Darth Star. She will prepare you for life as a Sith Apprentice. It will be difficult, but you will endure it." With that, Vader turned back towards the window, and obvious dismissal.

Getting up, Jack went and found the nearest man with any symbol of rank.

"Where is Darth Star?" he demanded. He was irritated that he was being forced to obey this "Vader" in order to survive.

The man went deathly pale, "Sh-she-she's i-i-i-i-in her ro-room," he said. She must have a reputation of brutality or she killed for fun. Either way, he was worried at how she would react at the knowledge that he also was an apprentice.

"And where is her room?" he said impatiently. After getting directions, he went into her room. It opened of its own accord. He had expected this. He had seen it happen whenever he passed through a door. What he didn't expect was the hand that flew at his throat, strangling him, choking the air out of him.
