The Shadow of Bloom
By SMYGO4EVA

Serenity awakened, for what had felt like an eternal sleep, and grasped futilely at the tendrils of that dream. Alas, they easily evaded her and evaporated into the growing sunlight. Groaning, she opened her eyes to the oncoming sun, and then sighed softly.

It really wasn't fair, that dream… especially when she had to awaken in a world where it wasn't real, where it wasn't true.

Still, she tried to commit every single detail to her memory, but it had already slipped away. All she could remember was that she could be seen, that she could be heard and that she had been accepted.

Serenity had been welcomed with open arms.

But something like that can be true, not in a million years. It would be better to forget than to dwell on the impossible. That dream would be unattainable now, much like the shadow of bloom.
