For some odd reason, old ladies keep on tryin to adopt and sivilize me. I think that mighty funny, seein as my body ain't no body's body but mine, and I don't want to be sivilized. But I s'pose its just as well that I live somewhere someplace. Apparently it keeps me outta trouble, and I don't mind the food that's provided.

Tom Sawyer thought it was mighty swell I started livin with his aunt and uncle, and soon enough he and aunt Sally and Sid were right in town. I couldn't stand stayin in one place that long, though. And I especially couldn't stand the thought o bein a sivilized boy.

Tom Sawyer got a real kick out o that idea and said he'd help me look for more trouble till I got enough supplies together to go on another adventure. We was flotin down the river when I decided that I was gonna ask him a real serious question. I didn't like serous questions, or serious things in general. They made me think o all the things Aunt Sally was tryin to drill into my head, but this was mighty important.

"Hey tom. Do you think it's okay for boys to love other boys?" I asked all quiet when we was round halfway down our path. He gave me a real funny look over his shoulder.

"Huckleberry Finn, if I was ignorant as you, I wouldn't let on." I was about to ask him if that's what he said to Joe Harper but he kept goin fore I could. "Course it is. God wouldn'ta made 'em that way if they warnt normal. And aunt Polly 's always ramblin bout how God made everything as it should be."

Well that seemed real logical. So I turned to Tom again. "Did you ever love a boy?"

"I don't know for certain, Huck, but I think maybe." He said all thoughtful like. "But I ain't sure if he'll have me, an he's plannin on skippin town real soon anyhow so I don't see the point. But he's a real bea-u-tee-full boy. Got curly hair and a nice set o eyes. And me and him get in real nice. I'd say I love him."

Well that there caused me to blush mighty fierce. "Tom Sawyer are you suggesting that you love me?" I asked him real serious. He nodded a little.

"Well if I was ignorant as you I wouldn't let on." I mimicked him and then pulled him real close into a kiss.

Miss Watson always said that it warnt right for boys to be kissin, but it sure felt right. and besides Miss Watson warnt there anyhow.

I had to reach up to get to Tom's lips, but it was worth the trip cause I'd never knew that a pair o plain old lips could be so nice. After a minute he started movin his lips around and that was even better, so I tried to to it too. I think Tom liked it, cause he made a little squeakin sound and grabbed me tight round the middle.

Well eventually I couldn't breathe no more and had to pull away, but somehow I ended up sat right on Tom's lap, and it was mighty comfortable, so I didn't bother to move. I think that made Tom happy.

"Well then, Huckleberry Finn. I think I can say for certain now that I loved a boy."

"Me too, Tom Sawyer. I'd say I love him a lot"
