I Apologize- Draco's POV of Save A Life

He was sitting on his bed, staring at the wall blankly; trying to ignore the wails of pain so sharp they broke glass, when they came.

They thought he sent an elf to rescue Potter, Weasleby, and Granger.

Fear sent cold waves of adrenaline through his body.

He thought adrenaline would have a warm feeling, like the effect of drinking a hot, creamy cup of Coco. That perfect, dazzling feeling of home and wildness spreading through your insides, making you want to smile and never stop.

His loss.

How could his father let him die?

Did no one care?

He heard the cruel laughter from the other side of the door.

Nope.

He suddenly grew fond of that door. It was the only thing keeping him away from the surely crumpled form of his past classmate and his crazed aunt.

But apparently the door hates him, for it opens all too quick.

Everyone hates him.

Even himself.

He tried shrugging off the firm grip Dolohov had on his collar.

Panic flamed through his being at the sight of Gryffindor Lioness Hermione Granger twisting and thrashing violently on the ground.

Mudblood.

He gulped at the word marked permanently into her smooth, pale skin.

He regrets ever calling her that.

His heart just broke a little.

She looked dazed, loony. Sort of like that one Ravenclaw girl.

She finally looks up at him and narrows her eyes.

Yes he most definitely regrets calling her that.

She was going to lie!

He knew Granger wasn't evil.

He opened and closed his mouth like a fish a she screamed out words of false accusations.

But saving him from weeks of pain?

He knew she wasn't evil, but to end herself for him, the most weak man on earth?

He felt deep remorse for all he has done.

He just watched.

Was this how it was going to end? A brave, smart muggleborn dying and the cold, useless boy she saved watching?

Who would've thought Hermione Granger would die for Draco Malfoy?

Obviously.

Ever since Draco Malfoy was born the pages of the book had been burned, their knowledge being erased, only to be replaced by cold nothingness and ignorance.

Maybe if life was different, this wouldn't have happened.

They were filled with sorrow, misery, fear, and confusion.

They would have been friends, if not at least acquaintances.

But now, as the bigger plot comes closer to an end, another tale shall be taken down from the wooden, dusty shelf.

He felt the vice like grip let go of his neck.

It will be filled with opportunity, friendship, romance, and regret.

It was hard… seeing the fiery witch broken. Like a porcelain doll, fun to play with but when it is broken…it is broken beyond repair.

He watched Aunt Bella turn her wand toward Hermione. He closed his eyes, not wanting to see the light die from her brown eyes.

He found it difficult to mumble, let alone say aloud the most complicated simple words ever.

So next time someone saves your life…

Just two small words, with big meanings.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Say thank you.
