He looks through the green chain gate of the school, looking down at the ground below him. He found it funny on how these green gates that were suppose to protect the students couldn't do it's job; much like himself. He doesn't remember when he had gotten to the top of the school building again-he always seemed lost, at least that's what they say. They would think he never hears the rumours they spread or the things they gossip about, but they're wrong. Much like they were wrong with #10 in their math test, they also thought he wouldn't remember, but they were wrong again. He doesn't remember when he had listened to the teacher, or if he ever did, he doesn't even remember taking the test. It just happens. It would be the same thing over and over again.

"...taro?" He heard, he looked to his side suddenly remembering that he wasn't alone. Just like anything else, he doesn't remember when she had gotten there. "Jeez Shintaro," She frowned at him, much less like she does everyday. "You should listen to others sometimes!" She playfully scolded him, but he doesn't reply. He never does. She laughs softly before turning around to look at the view that was formerly behind her. She sighs, almost like a melancholic one.

They stood there in silence, Shintaro didn't really care. He was never the one to bring up topics nor talk to anyone. He just doesn't care, much like everything. He also didn't know when these all started, maybe when he was a kid and his father died, or maybe when it was when his mother followed his dad to death? Nevertheless, he couldn't find himself to care. As they were lowered to the ground, he didn't cry like his sister-or anybody else in the funeral for that matter. Some said it was his way of coping, he doesn't know. He didn't feel anything, not happiness, not sadness, nothing.

Suddenly, a red scarf was around him again, but he wasn't shocked. He was used to it happening every day. It was like a daily thing for him ever since the girl beside him-Ayano was it?-started to annoy him. He didn't know why, but he never really held a conversation with her. He was always half-listening and never responding, but she doesn't mind. She never does, much like when she recieves her tests with failed marks. As far as he could tell, she was like him. They both held something that makes them have no care in the world, but they are so different as much as they are the same, he thinks. She was the girl who makes paper cranes in her spare time whilst he was looking outside the window as she do so.

"Let's go back, okay?" She smiles at him when he looked at her. He doesn't respond, but he lets her drag him. He didn't have anything to do nor care about anything, so why not let her?

When they got back to the classroom, they were welcomed by a lot of missing students which made Shintaro realise the class has ended for the day. He packs his stuff in his bag, as the girl beside him fixed her red scarf on her neck.

He never asked why she has a red scarf even at the middle of summer, much like when he never asks for things that he needed from others. He didn't know why, but he just did.

The next day, he saw himself standing in the rooftop again, clutching the green chain gate in his hands, looking at the ground below him. He suddenly thinks of everything and nothing at all, just like what happens everyday. He looks at his side, the girl was not there, but he never questioned it.

Seeing as how there were flowers on the ground below that had a faint out of color puddle there, he didn't have to ask to know. He just did.

Much less like following her, he didn't know why, he just did.
