The one
EPOV:
"Jasper, please explain to me why we MUST go to THIS particular coffee shop at ten o'clock on a Saturday night?"
Jasper and I had been best friends since our moms were in utero with us together, which is how I knew there had to be a different reason for his so called "craving" for a cup of coffee from this nook of a coffee shop we were currently standing outside of.
I watched as Jasper sighed and nervously scratched his head. Wait, nervous? Jasper was never nervous. Not when we were twelve and went cliff jumping at the La Push Indian reservation near our home town, not when we were seniors and he had to give a speech to the entire school when he was running for asb president, and certainly not by standing outside of a coffee to statisfy his craving.
"Edward man," he chuckled before staring at the sky, "because this is the place where I saw her."
That's when it clicked.
Three weeks ago Jasper decided to surprise his girlfriend by taking the night off from work and waiting for her at her house until she got home. Well that all came crashing down when at nine o'clock super bitch Lauren stumbles in lip locked to another guy. Apparently Lauren had been seeing this Mike guy on the side of Jasper for a while and was planning to leave Jasper. So my heartbroken best friend decides to walk the streets of Seattle aimlessly for hours in the rain until he stumbled this coffee shop. It was here, while sitting at the counter where Jasper says he saw "the one", her. Since then, Jasper's been coming every night at the same time to sit at the same place just waiting to her to come back in. Which explains why we're here now.
"I just feel like, tonight is the night", he says turning to me, " I can feel it Edward, she's gonna show."
For the first time I actually look at the shop. It's a tiny place, wedged in between two huge buildings its brick exterior is warn and faded in color as if it has remained completely untouched by the quickly modernizing world around it. The dim glow of the inside light is revealed through one huge paned window on the left side and above the worn wooden door a small sign reads Down the Rabbit Hole. An intoxicating smell seeps under the door into the night coaxing people in.
I sigh and run my fingers through my hair as Jasper pleads, "Please Edward, just come in with me just this once so I don't seem like a complete loner freak." He ends with a smile his solemn eyes begging me to help him. Ugh, I'm going to regret this, I thought, with a look at Jasper I smile and push open the door while saying, "Let's go find you your one, hell maybe mines in here too."
I didn't know how true that would soon turn out to be.
A/N: So please let me guys know what you think and if I should continue by reviewing with that handy button down there. Thanks hopefullyhope
