"Listen, William, I don't like you!" Yumi yelled at him, something she has said so many times to him.
"I'd like to change that." William said calmly.
"No, William. I'm tired of you trying to be around me. Leave me alone." Yumi said bitterly, and she began to walk away.
William stood there, his heart breaking. Again.
"Hey, Yumi." a voice called out, and William turned around.
Sissi stood behind him. "Have you ever thought that we're tired of you being around here?" she called out to her angrily.
William had nothing to say, he was so surprised.
"I'm sorry, William." Sissi told him, and she put her hand on his shoulder, for a moment.
He walked away.
He walked past them.
They immediately got quiet.
He held onto his pride and kept on walking.
"I'd really like to say something to that kid, for once." Ulrich said, clenching his fists.
He did not know William was still in earshot.
So was Sissi.
"I'm sorry, William," she told him.
He just nodded.
William stood next to other students in gym class.
Jim walked up to him.
"You're going to be in a group with Belpois and his gang today, okay?" he asked.
"That should be alright." William said.
Alright with me, not them, he thought.
He saw Ulrich talking to Jim.
Jim came back over to him.
"Uh… how about you try and find someone else to group with?" Jim asked, trying to be nice.
"Okay." William said, not surprised.
Sissi came over to him.
"You can be in my group." she said.
"I'm sorry, William." she added.
"It's alright." he said, and he went over to her group.
William approached Jeremie. Jeremie and him were actually friends, they talked sometimes.
"Can I sit with you, Jeremie?" he asked.
"Sure, William." Jeremie said and he smiled.
William set down his tray and sat down.
The others, however, had no smile.
Yumi got up, and Ulrich did too. Odd followed. Aelita hesitated, and then went with.
Jeremie looked at William apologetically.
"I… I have to go with." Jeremie said.
"I'm really sorry." he said, and then got up.
Sissi walked by.
"Me too," she said.
"Don't worry about it." William said, and he went and sat with her instead.
"Hey, Yumi." William greeted her.
"What do you want." she said angrily.
"I wanted to know if you wanted to go see a movie tonight. Ulrich isn't going to take you, so I thought you'd maybe like to go with me instead." William offered.
"No." Yumi said and she walked away.
Sissi came over to him.
"I'm sorry, William. I'll go with you." Sissi said and she smiled.
William said that would be fine.
William sat on the bench.
He saw Yumi and Ulrich together.
He took her hand.
They looked into each other's eyes.
William had to look away.
He knew it was going to happen eventually.
But surprisingly, he didn't hurt.
He didn't feel bad at all.
Sissi came up to him.
"I'm sorry, William."
William stood up.
"Don't be," he said.
He took her hand.
He looked into her eyes.
"I'm not." he said softly.
And he kissed her.
