She was dashing on a dusty path between the fields after a long day helping the adults of the community harvesting wheat. Hisako was barely taller than the wheat itself, and all she was seeing ahead was the shale roof of an old manor, the community's main building. She pushed a rusty farm gate and stepped on a path leading to the other part of the domain, where were a twenty farm houses. She lived there with her guardians, an old couple of eccentrics who joined the community in Mai 68'.

Once the dinner finished, she left her guardians' dining room and dashed in her room to take off her dirt-covered work clothes. The dust and the sea air had transformed her long black, shiny hair into a sort of dusty hay ball. She brushed them and lied down on her bed, staring at the sea from her window, feeling the warm sunset light on her face.

Hisako grabbed Monsieur Lapin, an old rag who was once supposed to look like a rabbit plush, putting him aside her head. She joined her hands and closed her eyes, trying to make that thing again. She already achieved to conjure a tiny jade-colored bead, and was hoping to do it again.

It was the first rays of sun on her eyelids and the chirping of the birds that awaked her, more than the cold and her especially uncomfortable position. She slept with the window and the curtains opened, couldn't remember how she fell asleep. When she got out of the bed, a little pebble fell on the floor. Bigger, this time. It looked like a real jewel, and she was quite proud of herself. Her guardians would love it, for sure. She took the bead and entered the living room with a bright smile, her hands hidden behind her back.
