Lauren slowly walked towards Scott Shelby's grave.
She was still shaking. She was trembling.
Reaching the gravestone, Lauren crouched down to where she could see the engravings on the stone.
She reached her hand out and touched the engraved words.
"Why, Scott?"
She stood back up and crossed her arms to warm herself up and also because she was extremely angry at him, as she should be.
Lauren looked down at his gravesite with frustration clear in her eyes.
"You knew what you did. Why even try to make friends with me? Why didn't you kill me? Was it because you felt guilty? DId you pity me? I don't need your petty pity, Scott Shelby. Or should I say Scott Sheppard? No. You don't deserve the same last name as your brother."
"You knew your crimes and your sins. Yet you tried to pass yourself as a normal person. Why couldn't you be just like all the other criminal scum? It was have been so much easier… So much easier…"
Lauren started tearing up, but wiped them away almost immediately after. Her sadness and regret had turned to resentment and contemptment.
"No. You don't deserve my tears. I will not cry for criminal scum. I will not. You killed my son, Scott. Where you thinking about that as you held me in my arms? While you were kissing me on the sidewalk in the rain?"
Lauren lifted up her foot up to her knee and slammed it onto the ground, digging her foot into the soil, digging it up and not even caring if her foot got dirty.
"I feel nothing but contempt for you. ...Nothing, but contempt."
With that, Lauren spit on his grave and stormed away from the graveyard.
