Favorite Shade Of Brown

The door slams shut,

His cries shatter the glass.

If only he could get out.

If only he could get off his ass.

He's tired of being pinned and pushed around.

No more pain for him.

This boy is almost a man now.

Spent his whole life being shut down.

Now is his one and only chance outta this town.

Away from the pain and back off the ground.

This abuse has gone on for so long.

Where did his life go wrong?

It's been this way since he was young.

The door would slam shut,

And his cries would shatter the glass.

His mother stood by as she'd let out a gasp.

His grasp so strong, so firm,

The blood only there to affirm

The pain is real.

The bruises stay.

His mother strays

Between sane and crazed.

How he's alive

His friends are amazed.

Everyone knows what goes on.

Everyone knows that boy needs help.

But nobody realized how badly

Until he let out that last yelp.

Well he got out.

He left that town.

In a wooden casket;

His favorite shade of brown.
