It's hard to believe

That I couldn't see

You were always there beside me

Pai felt uncharacteristically depressed. He felt that something was missing from his life. Something important. But for all his superior intellect, he had no idea what. As he had done so many times in the past few weeks, he stoically floated off to his lab to conduct research to take his mind off things. But today, he couldn't escape the gnawing inside.

Thought I was alone

With no one to hold

But you were always there beside me

As he was halfheartedly bringing up screens on the computer, he caught a familiar flash of green. Something he'd been denying for a long time stirred in him. He was about to brush it off with a surge of annoyance, when he suddenly realized something. Perhaps that's what was missing. A feeling almost like excitement slowly rose in him.

This feeling's like no other

I want you to know

I never found someone

As good for me as you

No one like you

No time to waste walking, he teleported to his room. He bent low, looking under his bed for something he hadn't seen in much too long.

So lonely before

I've finally found

What I've been looking for

Pai blinked back tears of joy when his searching hand grasped the object of his desire. It was a beautiful green argyle sock. He carefully pulled the other one out of his pocket, balled them up, and lovingly placed them in his sock drawer. "Finally," he thought. "My life is no longer incomplete."

He turned to walk out when a terrible realization struck him.

"…I don't wear socks..."
