Where'd You Go?
Trisha Elric had been happily married for a few years now. They had been excited when the Rockbells, their doctors and neighbors, gave them the news. She was a month pregnant. Eight months later, Trisha was the mother of a beautiful baby who Hohenheim named Edward. A year later, they had another baby boy... Alphonse. For Trisha, everything was perfect.
Then, when Edward was just learning to walk and Alphonse was still a baby, things changed. Hohenheim started to lose himself within his work. He would spend hours and hours at a time in the study, reading his alchemical texts and making notes. Sometimes he would miss meals. Other times... other times, Trisha would lay in bed by herself until the sun started to bathe the world in it's warm light. She would feel a great weight upon her heart whenever this would occur, but what broke her heart even more was the actions of her little boy.
Edward would stand at the door for hours, amber eyes watching his father as he remained silent. Occasionally, Hohenheim would take a break from the books. Whenever that occured, he would play with Edward and Winry outside. Trisha would watch, Alphonse resting securely in her arms as her husband and son played with the daughter of their friends. She cherished those moments, glad that her husband still lived for his family. Those times were precious to her, but slowly... they happened less and less.
At first, it was hardly noticable, but as the weeks and months passed... she began to realize exactly how it was going to be. Edward, who at this time was expanding his vocabulary, spent more and more time watching his father. Trisha had no doubt that Alphonse would do the same if he was able. She had no way of knowing that soon... very soon... her world would crumble beneath her feet.
"Hohenheim?" she questioned softly. Tonight, he was laying beside her on his back. For a moment, she wondered if he had even heard her call his name. Trisha started to call him again, only to be stopped by his arm wrapping around her waist.
"Hm? What is it, Trisha?" his voice was soft... soothing. She closed her eyes, almost forgeting what she was going to ask. Sadly, her memory was not that frail. A moment later she remembered why she had even said his name in the first place.
