Broken Heart
Billy was with President Roslin 20 hours out of every day. He knew everything that happened to and around the President. Billy knew the President was in love with Captain Lee Adama. It was small things really, the way her eyes would light up just a little bit more whenever he was around. The way her voice level would change just a bit so it would become a tad deeper and huskier. The way her body would unconsciously shift to stand nearer to the younger man. Billy noticed all of these things but kept them to himself. If Laura wasn't going to say anything then he wouldn't either. Billy knew they could never be together. The commander's son and the President were never meant to be.
Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace noticed these things. She knew the President was in love with her Lee. Starbuck never sent off an ounce of jealousy but deep down she couldn't help but wonder if Lee possessed the same feelings for the President.
Laura stopped speaking the day Kara and Lee were married; she had a glazed over look in her eyes for the rest of the week. Billy worried about her constantly. President Laura Roslin died not two weeks after the wedding.
Dr. Cottle said it was heart failure. All the stress she was under finally took its toll. Everyone walked around with despairing looks, yet they were hopeful of the future.
Only Billy sat in his cabin quietly weeping. Only he knew the truth. Only Billy knew that President Laura Amanda Roslin the former Secretary of Education died of a broken heart.
