Heavy breathing filled the room, the anticipation and tension were so thick you could cut it with a knife. Their eyes were closed. His head was bent, their foreheads almost touching. Her back was resting against the wall. He was pressing against her. He hesitated, as did she. Both wanted it, but both were afraid of the consequences.
He moved in a little closer.
"What about your, our, line?" She breathed, her eyes opening.
His warm gaze greeted her. He didn't know what to say. He put that line there because he knew that sooner or later this would happen, and he was terrified of losing her, but it was happening anyway. "We crossed that line a long time ago," he muttered.
She stared back, her eyes searching his. She had been hurt once to many, her heart broken into too many pieces. She trusted this man with her life, but could she give him her heart? Could she risk it?
He waited patiently. He knew not to push her. He knew though, as she must, that if she pushed him away now, things would never be the same, they could never go back. She let out another breath, the warm air, so tempting were her beautiful lips, washed over his face. The moment of truth had arrived.
She moved her hands up his chest, to the back of his neck, "Why did you even draw that stupid line in the first place?" She whispered.
He had no answer, but instead moved in a closer, his lips a hair away from hers. She took another deep breath, and closed the gap. Their first kiss wasn't the fiery passion he had once imagined, but one that drowned the fear they once held in their hearts, the fear that this wasn't right. It was the magical moment only spoken of in fairy tales. After all, lines drawn in sand tend to wash away.
Just a short, sweet, little drabble. I don't own Bones, hope y'all like it enough to review.
