"Oh dear, moonlight on water." The feeling of shivers deep in my bones. They whisper ice, puffing through the sea and into the air.

"We are lovely and you are such a lonely little girl, we will make you so beautiful his skin will crack and red drops of love will ooze from him." Lace shrouds their eyes and lips, a coating in the depths of their fingers.

"The smell of life is green, we can taste it, like mucus in our throats." I see Peter and his eyes remind me of honey, dripping sweetly down to his lips.

"Peter, they're singing." His skin is made of dirt and water, my tongue cramps, meat in my mouth that aches to touch skin.

"They don't speak, they are mermaids, mute and deaf outside of the water."

"But Peter..."

"Watch this Wendy."

"There's something about young boys. They don't yet know the pain of being eaten up." I went to the zoo and saw Peter's face in the penguins. He is made of the hardness of the ocean, his body is beautiful, the waves will not sink him.

I know this isn't real by the color of his hair, sunshine in dark water.

"Peter, the mermaids, isn't this dangerous?"

"Oh Wendy. Nothing can hurt me." He flies into the air, I watch him become the moon and circle around Neverland.

They're hands are wet and soft, like a bruised plum. They sing of seaweed and blood, so sweet. I hold its hand for an instant, savor the taste of being pulled underwater.
