I don't own the Outsiders!
(Dallas's POV)
I will never forget the first time I met Sylvia Ann Bennett. I was thirteen, causing trouble in junior high, when the new girl walked in to my history class. She was shy and nervous at first, textbooks pulled up by her nose and horn-rimmed glasses hiding her green eyes. She slipped quietly to her seat, tucking her skirt under her as she sat down.
The bell rang and everyone stood up and went out the door in a hurry. She did the same but as she was going to her locker she ran into a Soc girl and her books and papers went flying everywhere. She was scrambling to pick them all up as they were laughing at her.
"What a nerd!"
"You blind or are you just stupid?!"
"She's such a loser!"
I couldn't take it anymore, so I shut them up and helped her with her books. It was when she looked up to thank me I realized she was blushing red and crying. I helped her to her feet,
"Thanks for your help, but I'm late for science!"
"Hey, hold your horses; I've got Mrs. Jones next too. Calm down first then will go and I'll cover for you!"
"Why are you being so nice to me, I don't even know your name?"
"You have had a hard enough time already, and I'm Dallas Winston. Where are you from…" hoping to catch her name.
"Sylvia Ann and my parents and I just moved here from Kanas over spring break."
"You seem like a cool enough chick Syl, you want to eat lunch with me and my gang?" from what I saw she didn't have any friends eating in the cafeteria…
(Sylvia's POV)
Dallas was a nice guy but when he said gang I got nervous… how tough were these guys?
"I don't know a gang sounds pretty rough…" I told him hesitantly. He chuckled and I gave him a stern look.
"Don't look at me like that; I was only laughing because I'm the toughest one there! None of the guys with mess you, I promise cause if they do I will give them a knuckle sandwich!" He told me shaking his fist playfully. I giggled and he kind of smirked, his blue eyes had a nice glow to them.
"If you're the toughest one there, then I will go with you. It would be nice to have some friends here."
"They are some of the nicest guys around, trust me"
"Show me the way" and we waltzed out of the front door of the school like we owned this town. I could tell I was going to love living in Tulsa…
