He'd been searching for hours, moving slowly through the darkness. He held a hand firm against the wall of...whatever it was. The rough texture was cutting through the skin of his palm. He grimaced at the pain but it would be worth it once he found what he was looking for.
Suddenly, the wall ended and his shuffling foot nudged something solid in front of him. He brought his hand forward to test the object. It was tall, taller than he. The man was old and so, loosing some of his former strength. He put a light pressure against it. Then more until he pushed the full of his weight upon the object. Still it wouldn't move. He thought a moment, "I'm too weak."
All of a sudden, it moved forward then leaned to the right. In this motion the crack created omitted a small amount of golden light. This was nearly enough to blind the man who had been traveling through the darkness.
Moving his hands along the crack he takes a hold of it and moves the large structure out of it's place. Simply flooding the cavern with more and more light. His eyes squinted and shut in pain from the intensity of the light.
He stood still a moment letting his eyes adjust to the light and to the shock of finding what he wished for. This was it. This was the location of the rarest and most desired treasure in all of history: eternal life.
The old man took a step forward then pushed forth entering the light, his form disappearing.
Then he screamed.
