(yeah, it's my own challenge; the link is on my profile in case you're interested in participaing)
Her Mind Always Filled With Him
Pairing: Ming/Iroh
Romantic
Fascination:
Sometimes, she feels as though she could just stare at him for hours, memorizing every detail over and over again. He often wonders what is so fascinating about a grey and wrinkled old man.
Meditation:
He tries to teach her to meditate, but her mind is always filled with him. She continues to try, though, because he suggested she learn it.
Agitation:
She becomes increasingly frustrated with her inability to clear her mind; of course, the frustration doesn't help at all.
Medication:
She learns which teas are good for curing common ailments such as headache and nervousness. She finds she needs the nervousness remedy much more often than the headache one.
Adoration:
It might not make sense to anyone else, but she can't change how she feels about him, and she does not want to.
Speculation:
Sometimes she wonders what his wife was like and how she died, but she can't work up the courage to ask him.
Fabrication:
She cannot bring herself to lie to him and never even considers that he might lie to her.
Indignation:
She is offended the first time someone mistakes her for his daughter and furious when someone assumes she is his granddaughter.
Confrontation:
"You're—you're my Uncle's girlfriend?" She has no concept of how to even begin to answer the young Fire Lord and is infinitely grateful that Iroh is there to intervene. She can't hear a word either one says over the blood roaring in her ears.
Consternation:
She had never thought to consider how the Fire Lord might react to learning of his Uncle's girlfriend.
Trepidation:
"Are you sure he's okay with it?"
"My nephew may be Fire Lord, but he still knows to listen to his Uncle."
Education:
He teaches her to dance. She finds it so much easier and so much more enjoyable than meditation.
Jubilation:
The joy she finds in dancing is infectious to all those around her, but most of all to Iroh.
A/N: So what do you think? Is this any good? Is it better or worse than the first one I did "The Crush She Never Outgrew"? This was very different to write because Mai and Zuko are indisputably canon as well as both characters being very well developed in the show; also, I drew on actual events in the show for a good chunk of that one, while this one is all set post-series.
