It had been what felt like forever since Clara last saw the Doctor. She had asked him to return in a couple days because Nina's birthday was coming up and she wanted to celebrate. But that had been at least a month ago. Everyday she waited for him, and each day he didn't show. She was losing hope and beginning to think he would never come back for her. They had gone to magnificent and wonderful places, yet it seemed like she was nothing to him. Not a single thought had gone to her, she supposed.
Abandoning the last trickle of hope, she sat on her bed and watched out of the window. Only a few cars passed that night. When she finally glanced at the clock, she sighed. Ten at night. She laid back on her bed and tried to sleep. Something was off though. She sat right back up and heard it. The noise she had been listening for, for a month now. The one sound that visited her every night in her dreams. The TARDIS had finally shown up. And so had the Doctor. Her eyes popped open and she look out of the window and frowned. No TARDIS. No Doctor. She knew she had heard it so she got up and went downstairs. Looking out of the door, she was now positive it wasn't there. She shut and locked the door and turned to go upstairs. She paused, seeing a faint glow from the living room and figured one of the kids had left the television on. Turning in, she realized that wasn't the case. It was the sight she'd hoped for. The TARDIS stood smack dab in the center of the room, but for some reason, she seemed less lively.
"What's the matter?" Clara asked, rubbing the frame. The door opened and Clara gave a smile to the one occupant.
"Clara Oswald." He said with a smile.
"Doctor." She replied. "I was beginning to think you wouldn't return."
"I always return. Listen, Clara, I was just looking for some people."
"Who?"
"You wouldn't know them, but they need to be found."
"Doctor, who?"
"Sam and Dean Winchester."
"Right, well, lets find them then." He smiled as she skipped merrily into the TARDIS. But that cheer soon faded as she realized even the inside of the TARDIS seemed less lively and it scared her because she knew the TARDIS was, in a way, alive. The Doctor wasn't seeing it, or if he was, he didn't show that it was a problem. "Doctor, whats wrong with her?"
"We seem to have picked up a traveler and for some reason, can't get rid of it. That's why we're looking for the Winchesters. They deal with this sort of...stuff." He pulled a few levers and mashed a few buttons and Clara grabbed the rail as the landed. The Doctor strode out and Clara followed him.
"Where are we?"
"Lawrence, Kansas." He answered. "The birthplace of the Winchesters. Might as well start here." When she began to walk, he spoke again. "Back into the TARDIS."
"What? Why?"
"No questions, get in, now." She nodded and retraced her steps back into the TARDIS. He followed her and watched as she stepped closer to the console.
"So, what is it?" She asked as his steps widened until he reached her and he held her shoulder, gently.
"I'm sorry about this."
"About what?" She screamed as his fist collided with her temple, knocking her out cold and onto the floor.
"Its just, I didn't bring you here. He did." The Doctor answered as he dragged her to the rail and tied her up and left her – a victorious grin on his lips. Then it was out into Lawrence to get the Winchesters into town.
