Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
Notes: This is another Gai/Hinata story, and I know this is major crack but so is a lot of the stories on plus I've written another Gai/Hinata story before.

Under the Rain
Gai stood there beside his eternal rival, Kakashi; together they stood under the rain with nothing to protect them from the cold harsh winds and pelts of tears falling from the sky.
The two of them were now just a couple of old men now, Kakashi still wore his mask and headband, and Gai's eyebrows were still as bushy as before, he teeth still blinded everyone and he still believe in the springtime of youth.
But they were old; their faces held wrinkles of many years, there were scars along their skin telling of their many battles.
They were the last ones left of their old teams but they still had much to be proud of.
Kakashi had found a wife as well, a few years after Gai himself married; no one had thought that out of all the women in the village he would choose Anko.
Together they had three kids.
Gai married and it shocked the village beyond anything before as to who he married.
Hinata Hyuuga, so beautiful with her pale lavender eyes and fair skin, her kindness was what got his attention at first.
A kind Hyuuga, he knew Neji could be kind but most of the time he was a little…cold, but there she was, sitting there on the grassy hill all alone.
Even now at his old age he could remember that day.
It was a shock when people would see them having tea together in the local tea shop, both chatting away like they themselves were old friends who hadn't seen each in years, but in truth they were just talking.
By the end of the week Gai had known enough to know he was in love, the springtime of youth had blessed him with a lotus, a small and delicate lotus that shined brightly in the night.
No one understood why she would put up with his 'youth' and why he would put up with her 'stuttering and her weaknesses, they always answered the same.
"Love is a funny thing." But still no one could understand.
They had married but only a few accepted them, Kakashi was the first and then Lee (Gai knew that Lee would have been the first but he was on mission) and then finally Naruto, Sakura and her teammates when they saw how happy she was.
It was only when Hinata was in hospital with their first child and she called Neji over. He sat there beside his cousin and looked at his old sensei looking at her with more love then any could offer.
When Hinata handed their newborn baby girl over to him, Gai had seen tears brimming in his eyes and knew his student well enough to know that he was happy.
When he was leaving he turned and said, "I'm happy for the both of you," it was his own way of saying, 'I understand.'
Nothing could have made their day any happier after hearing that.
They had two more children soon after, two young boys.
He could never believe that this had happened, his wife, his lover, his friend, was dead.
She was 53 years old, so young to him, she had been sick, in so much pain, and one day she couldn't fight it anymore.
He had kissed her goodbye but he couldn't stop the sad tears from running down his wrinkled cheeks.
Now he touches the grave stone and whispers "The springtime of youth was always yours."
Gai and his eternal rival/friend stood there as two old men, they stood there under the rain visiting a loved one.
No matter how cold it was they'll stand there.
End of story, written by Jessica.
Ok, I know it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be but I just woke up and wanted to write something before everyone else wakes up and ruins my good mood.
