Chapter One: One of the MacNachtan Twins

What have I gotten myself into? Wedge thought, as Corran and his new wingmate, Daphane, came out of the simulator. "Good job, Corran. Daphane, try not to risk your life needlessly when the odds are to great."

"But, I'm Corellian. I have no use for odds."

"You do when you are on an important mission," Corran smiled, "unless you're escaping from an Imperial prison."

"Corran, that incident happened twelve years ago, and I still don't know how you did it. For the sake of Daphane, and me, why don't you tell us?" Wedge asked with a 'don't shoot me' look on his face.

"I had help from General Dodonna, not to mention the Force. Don't go telling anyone, only three other people, besides the 'newbies', out side the squadron knows. That satisfies your curiosity, Wedge?"

"Sure. Daphane, why don't you head over to DownTime. Corran, Generals Skywalker and Dodonna want to see you."

"I wonder what they want to see me about. See you latter, Daphane," Corran said; then he walked out of the room.

Daphane said, "Good bye, sir." Then she followed Corran out the door.

When Daphane entered DownTime, the only table that wasn't overcrowded, had a black-hair male sitting there. "Are you waiting for anyone?" she asked.

He answered, "No, I'm Captain Darklighter of Rogue Squadron. May I ask you your name, rank and squadron?"

"I'm Flight officer MacNachtan of Rogue Squadron."

"Aren't you supposed to be in sims?"

"That's my twin. I just came out of them."

"Then why aren't you with Commander Horn, getting to know him."

"He had other things to do."

"I forgot that Mirax is pregnant with their second child. You might as well sit with me because I've known Corran as long as he's been in the squadron, so I know all his good and bad characteristics."

"Really?"

"I'm serious."

"Alright."

"One of them is that he doesn't put others needlessly at risk. He'll find away of getting around a problem or a way to deal with it. Wedge once said of Corran, 'He isn't his father. He's one of the best men I know,'"

"Why would he say something like that?"

"He was trying to convince Booster to calm down about Corran's and Mirax's relationship."

"What a weird wingmate."
