A Captain

A/N: Just a little piece of writing that explores what Ti Dalma was thinking when Barbossa descended the stairs in DMC. Written to beat my writers block.

Special thanks to Nessa Lerlonde, my dearest friend for her help and support and also to Lonaargh, whose review for an earlier Tia/Barbossa story inspired this one! I also finally got around to putting fingers to keyboard in celebration on Pirates 3,the other fics I am posting today were also written in honour of 'At World's End'. ;)

"But if ya are ta brave da weird and haunted shores at World's End, then ya will need a captain who knows dose waters." With a sly smirk, Tia moved to stand next to Elizabeth, her coal eyes fixed upon the figure who had appeared at the top of the flight of stairs.

And what a captain heisTia mused. She had met her share of sailors and pirates during her life but none of them were like Hector Barbossa. He oozed elegance and intelligence with every move, so unlike the drunken ramblings of Jack Sparrow, once so attractive to her, now nothing more than an annoyance. He was so different…and so much… better…

Tia's admiration showed on her face, glowing brightly as Barbossa descended the stairs. She was not one to be impressed easily, but Hector Barbossa just had a way of getting under her skin…a way that wasn't entirely unwelcome either…

With a smirk, the priestess locked eyes with Barbossa and the look that passed between them spoke volumes. Smiling wickedly, he immediately indulged in one of his beloved apple delights, tilting it towards her in a toast before he bit into his beloved green treasure.

"Barbossa! How the devil did you get here?! Your supposed to be dead!" Will was the first one to recover his wits, and his surprised voice snapped Tia out of her memories and thoughts of the previous few days…days spent in the pleasurable company of a gentlemanly pirate and nights spent in his arms.

The pair shared an annoyed look and Tia began idly wondering how Turner would look as a stuffed pygmy mummy swamp statue… a nice welcoming fixture to her hut, and she hadn't changed the scenery outside for awhile…

Raising his eyebrows, Barbossa glared at Will and Tia stepped forward quickly, not wanting a duel in her hut. The blood would be murder to clean up properly.

Smirking, Tia locked eyes with Barbossa again, and raised an eyebrow, eyes glinting in the candlelight. Matching her grin, Barbossa turned to Will, a sly look on his face.

"Well you see William Turner, I had to be the gentleman and take care of the lady when Sparrow left. Can't have a woman feeling lonely, can we?" As he spoke, Barbossa pulled Tia towards him, a hand around her waist. Ignoring the shocked and scandalised looks on the Pearl's crew's faces, Tia lifted a hand to caress Barbossa's face, before grabbing him by the shirt and pulling him down into a passionate kiss.
