Dedicated to Vincent Valentine,
Birth: October 13,
Death: …
I have so much to say about this poor soul, yet I am unsure how to say it...
Dark beauty…if that's what you want to call what he had. I can still remember…his long black hair and scarlet cloak would cascade in an eerie rhythm down his back as the wind blew. Brooding thoughts seemed to swirl in his complicated mind, hidden by the crimson cloth he wore and the serene mask of chill that his stare held. But I knew better.
Vincent Valentine, a man…well…not quite human anymore. Deprived of the very essence of his life, Professor Hojo, the one who stole his only true love, turned him into something that shouldn't be. Rumored to be a vampire, or even a demon, he kept to himself. Keeping more than the sickening feeling that his lost love gave birth to what could have been the destruction of Gaia, the world.
I remember when I first met him. He was asleep in a coffin. In the basement of Shinra Mansion. He journeyed with us. For his own reasons more than ours. He was a great help to us, fending off enemies with powerful skills. With his gun and the ability to change. Slowly, his affairs began to weave throughout our own and soon we were all on the same course, journeying for the same reason. I never saw him after that day he saved the world with the others and me. I'm sure he still thinks about us. It's no doubt we still remember him and the way he unknowingly attached himself in our hearts. I thought nothing could be as apprehensive as having the last battle with Sephiroth. But not seeing him carried me farther than apprehension.
It hurt us when he disappeared. He was the second person to leave us in a drastic way. The first was Aeris Gainsborough, the innocent flower girl from the slums…murdered by the blade of a sword. But that's a different story, and it pains me to recall her memories. She was too dear. Curse Sephiroth's soul to hell! He can be blamed for the loss of the two people important to me.
This concludes my excerpt dedicated to Vincent Valentine. Even though they say he isn't human, he's still our friend. I still believe in my heart that he's alive. I can feel him…if that's possible. But I know he wouldn't die…he won't die…he can't die. I know you're alive Vincent, and I want you to know that we all care for you and hope you are all right. And there's always that slight chance you might come back and visit us.
Forever Yours, Forever Ours,
Cloud Strife
