The sensation of cold metal lingering against her exposed neck cause a shiver to shoot down Alize's spine. Pale blue eyes felt as if they were peering into her very being not a single word exchanged after Flora had responded to Alize's confession of love. The words kept fumbling back and forth in her head, Alize would not have ever guessed that the person she harbored feelings for would only bare hated for her. Refusing to move away she simply closed her eyes before slightly shaking her head.
"I didn't fall in love with you for your kindness. Nor did I fall in love with how caring you were."
The maid gave a tiny scowl at her words, dagger shifting ever so slightly near Alize's neck. "Regardless of your reasons Milady… I am not a person you should pursue." Flora's voice unwavering, clear of her own resolve. "Flora you don't understand." Alize softly reached to the maid's unarmed wrist, carefully grabbing onto it as a sincere smile formed across her lips. "I'm sorry that I have caused you such pain Flora, but my feelings will never change. I fell in love with you as an entire person, and I understand… That's why I want you to be able to go back home and be happy."
"Milady you…" Both dagger and arm lowered, hanging hopelessly in the small amount of empty space between them. "Even though you know the truth, you know my true feelings. Why do you continue to want nothing but happiness for me?" Metal chattered against the castle floor as Flora's dagger left her grasp. "I'm nothing but a despicable person who had just tried to take your life. Why..?"
"Flora, that's because I truly love you with all of my heart." Bringing the maid into an embrace Alize's grasp was gentle and careful, treating Flora like a fragile treasure. "On this journey, I learned so much. I learned how to live, and I learned what love really is." Gently speaking Flora's body began to relax while listening to Alize's comforting words. "I'd do everything in my power just to make you happy. You don't have to stay strong alone anymore…"
"Milady… Alize…" Giving into the urge to cry Flora's eyes welled up with tears as she rested her head into the other woman's shoulder, arms surrendering to the bittersweet embrace, desperately clinging onto that person she had once hated with every fiber of her body.
"I'm sorry… I'm so sorry… I never believed you cared about me, or my sister… I had always believed you seen us as mere servants and not companions. Forgive me…"
Gently running her fingers through the maid's blue locks Alize quietly responded, "No I should have realized sooner how alone and angry you had felt, but it's in the past now… And if you would allow it, I would love to be by your side when you return to your homeland.
