It's a simple effect that comes with being a superhero in a public relationship. From time to time, the paparazzi and reporters get bold and leapt out at Wiccan and Hulking after a battle to ask, "How did you two get together?" They never say anything though, and Billy teleports them all instantly back to HQ.
That doesn't stop the speculation from surging forward on the internet. Sometimes, when Teddy gets really bored (which isn't very often), his fingers seem to spring to life on their own and poke in to one of those websites- just to see what they say. Even though it's all wrong, he can always use them for a good laugh. Especially with the crazy stories some of the fangirls make up. Half of them are more exciting than he remembers the real thing to be, and the other half has him excusing himself to the bathroom to take care of business.
Once, he showed one of the sites to Billy, thinking he'd get a good laugh out of it too. But Billy only stared at the screen and frowned as he finished reading the page.
"That's not how it happened." he finally said. Teddy smiled, thinking Billy was just playing around.
"Well, yeah. Obviously the real thing included more sexy outfits and whipped cream, but they don't-"
"No, Teddy, they've got it all wrong."
Teddy stopped smiling and looked at his boyfriend. Dark eyebrows drawn together in a downward angle and the pouted mouth told him that Billy was being serious.
"Billy..." he started, not sure how to say it, "It's okay. These people are just having fun- I don't think any of them really think I wooed you with my-" Pausing, he quickly turned back to the computer to scroll up a bit for an appropriate line, his eyebrows shooting up when he finally found one.
"-ooh! My 'glistering, deep sapphire, orb eyes." It was satisfying to see Billy's lips twitch upward at that one. Teddy laughed and pulled his boyfriend into his arms, burying his face in his stomach. He could hear the faint thump-thump of his heart and tightened his grip around the warm body.
"Besides," he mumbled through the cloth, "I want to keep what really happened just between you and me."
Billy chuckled and Teddy felt the vibrations through his sweater. It was nice, and he wasn't ready to let go yet. He felt Billy shift around and then wrap his own arms around him to play with Teddy's blond hair.
"I guess it's okay, then." he heard him say, albeit with reluctance in his tone. Teddy wasn't quite sure why, but it was immensely uplifting to hear Billy's approval in that matter. Maybe it was because now he could read these stories without feeling so guilty.
There was more shifting around on Billy's part, and then a grunt as he scrolled through more fanfiction. Teddy loosened his arms to let Billy to do so, but he wasn't letting go anytime soon.
"Why am I always the one on the bottom though?"
Teddy snorted.
