A/N: I do not own the Chronicles of Narnia, but, duh, you knew that.

It was just a little outing.

Lucy had been upset because Mr. Tumnus was leaving for the better part of the year to journey to Archenland, so Peter had suggested that they hunt the White Stag to take her mind off it. It was just a little outing, designed to make their sister smile.

Susan agreed to come, for the White Stag had been eluding their hunting parties for years now, and she was on the verge of frustration, and felt that she had to hunt it herself. Edmund would have stayed at Cair Paravel, but Philip needed a good run, and he disliked being alone, especially after his time spent in the dungeon of the White Witch those fifteen long years ago.

They were to be back before dinner; Peter had told Orieus. It was just a little outing, after all. What could possible happen?

Now, Peter Pevensie feels the rough, wooden floorboards beneath his hands and hears someone open the door of the room. He looks up, and it is the Professor. Shock pulses through him and he snaps his head around to stare at Lucy, realizing something terrible. Time has stood still for the fifteen Narnian years that they ruled, and here, nothing has changed.

Lucy's mouth is open in amazement as she gazes at Peter, and he holds back tears as he stares into her eyes. Her play dress has taken the place of her riding garments, and a clip-bow has replaced the silver crown she was so proud of. The elegance of her woman's face has reverted to its eight-year-old form, with baby cheeks and childish structure.

This was not supposed to happen.

"What were you all doing the wardrobe?" The Professor's voice pulls Peter back to attention.

"You…you wouldn't believe us if we told you." He manages to stammer out. This was not supposed to happen. Where was the Narnia that he loved?

The Professor smiles wisely, and Peter wonders if he knows something they do not. Thunk. A heavy cricket ball lands in his palm, and he remembers.

"Try me."

It was just a little outing, but now it has ended his world.

A/N: So, how'd you like it? R & R, and I like constructive criticism!
