Theta Sigma of the House of Lungbarrow stood at the edge of a cliff on Mount Lung, staring out into the vast, burnt orange horizon, admiring the silver-leaved trees in the forest, and the song of the flubbles as they chased each other through the trees. Sighing, he turned around and dragged a large box closer to him, opening the lid and picking up a flubble cub, rubbing its ears affectionately.

Flubbles are small, purple, bear type animals. They had the body of a red panda and the head of a koala, with six legs instead of four. They spoke to each other through whistles and howls. This flubble though, was a runt, and Theta had found her all alone, abandoned by its family, injured and nearly starved to death.

Knowing how it feels to be abandoned, Theta had taken the flubble in, and named it Solis. But now, Solis was healthy, full grown, and in heat. And knowing his bloodthirsty Family, Theta knew that it would be better to release Solis into the wild, and hopefully Solis would be able to survive on her own, and make a new family.

Theta may not know how flubbles bred, but he was sure that they were able to, unlike the Time Lords.

He frowned, hugging Solis closer to him as tears welled in his eyes. Solis was the one of the only forms of living being that he's been around, the other being Cousin Innocet, the only member of his Family that hadn't ostracised him. Theta didn't count Badger, who was an Avatroid from Ava, and was programmed to be his tutor, bodyguard, and best friend. But Theta didn't want a best friend who was a robot, who would prevent him from having the kind of fun that Theta liked. Of course, Solis wasn't much of one, but at least with her, he could have a friend to run around and climb trees with.

With one final hug, Theta gently placed Solis back in her box, and started walking down the steep cliff, making sure to watch his footing. And, once at the bottom, he placed the box back on the ground, opened the lid, and walked away. Ignoring the pitiful whistles coming from the opposite direction, but as he walked away, Theta's previously held back tears came streaming down his face in rivers.

Memories of times he spent with the tiny animal played through his head, taunting him, scolding him. Times of playing in the trees, hiding from Glospin inside the House, and pranking Sathraltrope. He honestly didn't want to leave Solis, but he had to, or else Rynde would surely cook poor Solis up. And that was worse than leaving the poor girl with her own. As she would at least have her own surrounding her.

A choked sob escaped Theta as he realized that he had been selfish, thinking only of himself and not of Solis. He should have realized that, while Solis now had all of the beaus to woo her, she wouldn't have a family. And… Theta couldn't let him turn into her previous family. Into his family.

Theta turned around, midnight blue eyes hard with determination. He would keep Solis, and protect her for all he was worth. Because when you're all alone in a universe that's out to get you. The loners had to stick together.
