You stared straight into their eyes
As they smiled and laughed
You thought you were in for a wonderful surprise
But instead they threw you down a shaft
They left you in the park,
To ponder why
They left you in the dark
And listened to you cry
You know what it feels like
To eat your lunch alone
And ride home on your bike
Wondering if they all have hearts of stone
You how how awful it is
To know there's no one to cry to
No one who says
Don't worry I'll help you
You come home every night
Praying that tomorrow will be better
But try with all your might
The pillow just gets wetter
So then you bury yourself in books
But only the ones that end well
Because all of the crooks
End up in a cell
But even books aren't enough
To take you far away and make you forget
Your life has none of that fluff
Only a feeling of regret
And you know it's not your fault
And you can't help but wonder why
They love to rub your wounds with salt
And cut your wings so you can't fly
And you end up pleading
For those monster to leave you alone
But didn't you know that evil never stops feeding
On those poor hearts not yet made of stone.
I hope you enjoyed! I'm writing a collection of poems on Inkitt, and I would really appreciate if you let me know what you think!
