Title: The Reason For This Battle
Song I was listening to as I wrote this: Ballroom Blitz, The Sweet and This Grudge, Alanis Morisette.
The reason for this battle
The reason for this hardship
Apparent to me, but only to me
and never remembered the day after tomorrow
They think I do this for them
They think that all I want is equality
How wrong of them to assume that
This is for my mother and Nunally
Despite popular belief
I'm not as heartless as they believe
I feel sadness and pain too
But for the most part, it's only briefly
I want to make my mother proud
I want her to be able to smile down on me
Yet I want to fight her people
I want to fight everything she believed
If I can destroy this wicked world
The one she built up for me
I can rebuild it into a new world
One where we can live peacefully
What if mother didn't want that?
What if she didn't want the world rebuilt anew?
What if she's disappointed in me?
What if it's all true?
Mother, do you love me?
Do you approve of anything I do?
Or do you hate me?
And are trying to disapprove?
The reason for this battle
The reason for this hardship
Apparent to me, but only to me
and never remembered the day after tomorrow
