~ Prologue ~
A World that is made of Light and Darkness
Nothingness
The only word that was able to describe the place. A girl lifted herself up from a hardened cold ground and, as she opened her eyes, she saw that, below her, was a platform made of what seemed to be stained glass.
The platform seemed to stretch for a mile or so. Fear struck the girl as she began to wonder just how delicate the floor's surface must be and tried to prevent herself from moving too much. She soon came to realize that, after a bit of walking, the colorful glass remained intact. It looked as though the crystalline structure was arranged in a certain pattern of multiple colors to conjure a picture, but, without a bird's eye view, she was unable to figure out what the image was.
Experimenting, the teenage girl went on to see just how far the platform stretched, but she soon reached the limit as she looked downwards only to see an endless darkness from beneath. The thought of her falling immediately made her race back to the center of the stained glass circle, which was what she deemed as the safest place, and shivered rather dramatically from the fright she had received.
The girl stood on the platform all alone. There was no one to talk to and no one to help her. Her heart started to thump uncontrollably as she wondered if she would be stuck in the empty void forever. With no sign of an exit or anyone present, the fear of loneliness started to overcome her. Her eyebrows furrowed and her lips curved downwards in to a frown. There seemed to be nothing she could do to help herself. Would she really stay in this darkness forever?
It was then a bright light pierced the inky blanket of endless black that surrounded her.
She tried to adjust her eyes to the sudden brightness that dotted the obscure darkness enfolding her and held her hands in front of her eyes as to not blind herself. Soon enough, the luminescent light no longer blinded her, but became an orb of light that floated in front of her.
Her eyes blinked as she stared at the glowing ball in front of her. As she stared at it, it seemed to give her a sense of security and… warmth. The petite girl reluctantly held out her hands to caress the light in her palms. It was now in her possession and soon enough, the emitting warmth of the orb was now emanating throughout her whole body.
What am I doing here? Where am I?
Your true journey is just beginning. After restoring your memories, you can now fulfill your destiny. You must help them restore balance in the world. Tame the darkness.
Restore Kingdom Hearts.
Kingdom Hearts? But… wait… why can't you just eliminate the darkness?
The world is made of both light and darkness.
One cannot survive without the other.
She let out an exasperated sigh as she slowly sat down on the ground below her and tried to look through the orb as to find some type of answer.
How am I supposed to help… tame the darkness?
That is for you to find out.
The cycle is never ending.
The battle will forever continue, unless you and him put a stop to it.
What was the cycle? The orb's words were enigmatic and starting to make the girl's head hurt as she tried to decipher the meaning of his obvious words.
That is when she remembered the light having said something about her being the key that would help him.
Who is "him"?
He is the key that connects everything. His name is…
"Natsumi! Wake up!"
