A Star Wars fic has always been a dream of mine. And here it is based on one of my new fav characters, Captain Rex, an AU story about his death. Star Wars belongs to George Lucas.

He could feel his strength slipping away. Laser blasts covered his armor; Battle Droids were all over him. Demolished and totally scrapped. A light-saber had been stabbed into his gut by Grievous himself. The sick bastard, the abomination of organs and technology laughed with an psychotic laugh the whole time saying "Give Skywalker a little message, I will not stop until every last Jedi, youngling, padawan, knight, and master lie dead, slaughtered, by my army's hand." He snarled as the monstrosity ran off. Rex knew no amount of time in the bacta tanks would save him this time.

He had gone down defending Kaminio, the closest thing he had to a home. He knew Anakin and Ashoka were going to be devastated by this news, but that's the Force for you. "He's over here! Hurry!" yelled a clone, Echo, as he and his friend Fives, Commander Cody, several Troopers, Obi-Wan, Ashoka, and Anakin all ran to his side. "Rex, we did it! They are retreating!" Anakin said, but then noticed the wound Rex had. "No." he said in complete disbelief, Rex was too tough a clone to go down now. "Sorry sir, looks like this was our final mission together." Rex said with a weak voice, "Grievous did this didn't he?" asked Ashoka, "Yeah, the abomination." He said, his voice grew weaker and weaker with each passing minute. "Well done my friend, you saved the city and the lives of the new generation of clones, and the Republic itself from destruction." Obi-Wan said sadly, "There is nothing to regret then if the Republic is safe."

"You are more than just some tool for the Republic; you are a hero and a friend." Ashoka said on the brink of tears. "Thank you, kid." He said with a dying voice. "General Kenobi, I need to tell you something." Obi-Wan leaned in. "Beware of Palpatine, he has something planed for the Jedi." Obi-Wan did not know what that meant, but he knew he had to tell Yoda and Windu. "Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds as well as the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest is…..silence." Rex said as he finally slipped into death.

"Ashoka, you were right, he was more than a clone, he was a hero." Anakin said as the rain of the planet continued to pour down. Obi-Wan wondered, what did this mean, what was Palpatine planning?
